M-League 2020 Week 9: High-Scoring Affairs

Standings

This biggest riser this week is the U-Next Pirates. After two straight weeks of dropping, they finally turn around their luck and are now within a 1st place away from getting into the positives, something that they have yet to do this season.

The next highest riser this week is the EX Furinkazan. After the Abemas had taken the top spot last week, the EX Furinkazan retake the position with a +121.9pt week.

Taking third spot in this week’s performance ranking is the Konami Mahjong Fight Club. With the help of the baiman win and 1st place from November MVP Fujisaki, along with Sasaki’s baiman and best game of the 2020 season, they were able to have a triple digit record this week with +100.7pts.

Not to be missed is the Shibuya Abemas. For the third week in a row, the Abemas are able to earn a positive record with a +40.9pt performance this week.

Heading into the first droppers of the week, we have the Kadokawa Sakura Kinghts taking 5th place in this week’s perfomance rankings by going -59.2pts. This is the Sakura Knights’ 3rd week in a row dropping and their 6th out of their past 7 weeks. Compared to the team being 1st in the standings with +194.0pts in week 2, they are now at the bottom of the pack with -297.7pts.

6th in the performance rankings this week is Team Raiden. Another week goes by and Hagiwara is still struggling to find his footing. This is their 7th out of 9 weeks that Team Raiden has come out negative. The team goes -94.1 this week, but is impressively only in 6th place in the standings.

7th in the performance rankings is the Sega Sammy Phoenix, who went -115.6 this week. Even though they only went 4th once this week, they bled a lot of points from 3rd places.

And the biggest dropper this week is the Akasaka Drivens. For the third week in a row, the Akasaka Drivens continue to struggle, going -118.5pts and dropping to 4th. This is a stark contrast from they they had had positive scores for the first six weeks of the season.

That’s all for this week! There are two more weeks until we get to the halfway point of the season and three more weeks until we have the M-League holiday break. Will the Pirates see the positives? Can the Drivens stop the drop? Will Hagiwara finally have his first win? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see! See you next week!
