M-League 2020 Week 11: Halfway There

Standings

Kadokawa took the top spot in this week’s performance rankings with a +123.6 and a 3-0-0-1 record. It was a team effort, with all four players except for Sawazaki getting 1st. Their high-scoring performance helped them move up to 4th place in the overall rankings and come within one 1st place to getting into the positives. This is the team’s 2nd week in a row with a positive weekly performance.

Raiden took the next spot in the performance rankings. With a +89.6 and a 1-2-0-1 record, they were able to move all the way to 5th spot, even getting up to 4th at one point in the week. Kurosawa’s record setting +101.3 was reduced to the point value of a single 1st when she got her first 4th this week. Hagiwara had his best performance with season with a +22.4 and Setokuma helped add a bit more to the team score with a +16.8. This is the team’s 2nd week in a row being positive in the weekly performance standings

This week’s 3rd place spot went to the Sega Sammy Phoenix. This week’s performance was a well needed reversal, being at the bottom of both the team standings and last week’s performance rankings. It was Wakutsu’s and Kayamori’s time to shine this week, with both getting a 1st.

Taking 4th spot in the performance rankings is the Shibuya Abemas. After having a hiccup in last week’s rankings, they get back to their winning ways to go +27.4 this week. The team as a whole performed well, being the only team to avoid last place this week.

Rounding out this week’s risers is the EX Furinkazan. The team remains in the top spot in the team standings, with Katsumata playing 3 of the 4 games this week. Perhaps the fatigue got to him, as he went from 1st to 3rd to 4th in his games this week.

Heading into this week’s droppers, the Konami Mahjong Fight Club is 6th in this week’s performance ranking. Sasaki was again sent to try to keep the team’s score up, but his first game was in Kurosawa’s monster game. Takamiya was also sent out this week and she continued to struggle, placing 3rd and 4th and giving her the lowest rentai rate (rate of placing 1st or 2nd) at only 10.00%. For comparison, the next lowest rentai rate is Kondo with 30.00%.

7th in the performance ranking is the Akasaka Drivens. The tragic slump continues, marking their 5th week in a row of negative weekly performance. They tried every single player they had, but they could find their winning ways.

And finally, we have the U-Next Pirates placing 8th in the performance rankings. It was a difficult week this week, with all four players getting negative in their games. Even their 2nd place was negative because it was against Kurosawa’s record-breaking game. This is the team’s 2nd week in a row being negative in the performance ranking.

Well, that’s all for this week! We’ve basically reached the midway point of the season! There’s one more week of play, then M-League will take a one week break and then the new year begins! Everyone knows where they are right now, and know that they must, at the very least, place in the top 6.

Will Team Raiden finally see the positives? Will the Sakura Knights climb back up to their former glory? Will the Drivens stop drowning in despair? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
