Standings
Taking the top spot this week in the performance rankings is the Kadokawa Sakura Knights. This week was truly Uchikawa’s week, winning two games on the same day, being the first player to do so this season. Uchikawa was also the top player this month, going 3-1-1-0 and earning 184.8pts this month. Having been in a precarious position at the start of the week, the Sakura Knights have given themselves some wiggle room and now place 4th in the overall standings. The positive performance this week breaks their three week downward trend.
The Konami Mahjong Fight Club are next up in the lineup. Chasing after the EX Furinkazan for second spot, they made some ground by going 1-1-2-0 and earning 42.7pts. This is the team’s 2nd week with an upward trend.
3rd spot in the week’s performance rankings is Team Raiden. As always, Setokuma and Kurosawa both earned enough points to negate Hagiwara’s 4th place. However, the Sakura Knight’s performance dropped them down one spot to 5th.
Breaking their 6 week downward trend, the U-Next Pirates are finally positive this week and take the 4th spot in the performance ranking. However, it was the third week in a row without a 1st place. With them facing elimination and facing the first place Shibuya Abemas on both their days next week, they will need to bring their a-game to the table.
Going into the droppers, the Sega Sammy Phoenix placed 5th in this week’s performance rankings. In their matchups this week against the Pirates, they went 1 for 4, but they kept things close enought that the score difference between the two teams didn’t change much. Their next challenge is against the Akasaka Drivens, who took the Phoenix’s 7th place spot this week. Because of the Driven’s drop this week, the Phoenix move up to 6th.
Breaking their 5 week upward trend, the Shibuya Abemas drop margnially and place 6th in this week’s performance rankings. As they say, “‘Tis but a scratch”. With a huge lead, this really doesn’t change much for them. After all, it will only be worth half in the semis and only a quarter in the finals.
Placing 7th in the performance rankings is the EX Furinkazan. Not an ideal position to be in for the Furinkazan, but their current position in 2nd place makes it extremely likely for the team to make the semis. This is their 2nd week in a row losing points.
And finally, placing last in the performance rankings, we have the Akasaka Drivens. Making it their 9th week in their past 10 with a downward trend, they really are having trouble finding their positive rhythm. With four very important games against the Sega Sammy Phoenix next week, they will need to step it up if they want to go to the semis.
This Week’s M-League Stats
That’s all for this week! There are 6 more weeks to go and some exciting matchups are coming up this week. WIll the Pirates be able to best the Abemas? Who will win the Drivens vs. Phoenix battle? Will Konami MFC, the Kadokawa Sakura Knights or Team Raiden be able to surpass the EX Furinkazan? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
