M-League 2020 Finals: Games #11-12 and the Awards Ceremony

The Awards Ceremony

Between the end of the last game and the start of the awards ceremony, they showed parts of a new original documentary about each of the eight M-League teams. Afterwards, they showed the highlights from games 9 and 10 and then the awards ceremony was ready to begin.

We were introduced to our MC for the night, Takamori Tetsu and the chairman of M-League, Fujita Susumu. They didn’t waste any time and got right down to business.

The first award that they gave out was the 4th place avoidance award. This award is given out to the player who has the highest 4th place avoidance rate. From 3rd to 1st, they revealed the results.

When Kobayashi’s name was announced, he was invited on stage to receive his medal. Fujita-chairman put the medal around his neck and Kobayashi made a short speech.

The second award that they gave out was the highest hanchan score. This award is given out to the player who had the highest final score in a single hanchan. The top three were announced as well.

This time, however, Sasaki didn’t come on stage, for he won another award…

The third award given out was the highest season score award. This award is given to the player who had the highest total score at the end of the regular season

With Sasaki Hisato being the winner of the award, he was invited onto the stage to receive his medals. After he had received his medals, he made a short speech as well.

Final Standings

Going from the bottom to the top, they went through the final standing of each team.

In 8th place, with a score of -396.7pts during the regular season, are the Sega Sammy Phoenix

In 7th place, with a score of -264.3pts during the regular season, are the U-Next Pirates

In 6th place, with a score of -210.5pts during the regular season and -346.1pts during the semifinals, is Team Raiden

Going into the finalists, in 4th place, with a score of -3.2pts during the regular season, 26.6pts during the semifinals and -59.7pts during the finals, are the Akasaka Drivens

In 3rd place, with a score of 654.7pts during the regular season, 654.7pts during the semifinals and 101.7pts during the finals, are the Shibuya Abemas

In 2nd place, with a score of 497.3pts during the regular season, 294.5pts during the semifinals and 103.4pts during the finals, are the Kadokawa Sakura Knights

And so, we go to out 1st place team and the champions. After a short team montage, we are met with a darkened stage with three silhouettes and red lights in the background. When the lights are turned on, the M-League 2020 champions, the EX Furinkazan are revealed! Triumphant music played in the background as the listed off the team’s scores. The EX Furinkazan had a score of -108.8pts during the regular season, -82.9 during the semifinals and +242.3pts during the finals.

Nikaido Aki came forward to accept the M-League championship plate for the team. After a short photo shoot of Fujita-chairman presenting the plate to her, the whole team came forward and raised the plate together.

After that, they were presented with the 50 million yen cheque, the other prize for winning the championship.

Once all the photos were take, each of the three players made a short speech, thanking their fans, M-League and their sponsors.

The final speech was made by Fujita Susumu, thanking everyone for their support even with the stay at home order with the pandemic and congratulating the EX Furinkazan. As with everyone, he is looking forward to the next season.

With that, the Awards Ceremony came to a close. The EX Furinkazan waved us one last goodbye and the M-League 2020 season officially came to an end.
