Standings
The top performer this week is the EX Furinkazan. Matsugase is having an incredible start of the season. Having played for 5 of the team’s 8 games, has is currently on a three-game 1st place streak and is at the top of the standings. Though Aki did lose a game, her win earlier in the week helped contribute to the team’s total. The EX Furinkazan finish the week by scoring +141.3 and a record of 3/0/0/1, moving them up from 6th to 2nd.
Next we have the Sega Sammy Phoenix. Some very strong play from all the players, especially Kondo with his deal-in avoidance in Game 16. With their 1/2/1/0 record and +79.5 from this week, they cancel out their big losses from Week 1 and move into 3rd place.
In 3rd place in the performance rankings are the U-Next Pirates. An unfortunate 4th place by team captain Kobayashi, the rest of the team was able to do their part to keep the ship afloat. In Game 13, Asakura got the team’s first 1st place and Ishibashi’s 2nd place finish the game after helped bring the team to the positives. This is team’s first time being in the positives during the regular season since February 21, 2020 (1 year, 7 months and 23 days). They finish the week with a record of 1/2/0/1 and a score of +41.5.
Going into the negatives, Team Raiden takes 4th place in the performance rankings. An even finish for the team, being 1/1/1/1 and a score of -6.4, the team still holds onto 1st place in the overall standings.
In 5th place is the Konami Mahjong Fight Club. Things are continuing to go poorly for the team. Even with Sasaki getting a 1st place in Game 9, he lost some of the points from an unlucky deal in later in the week to place last. Some 3rd place finishes for Takamiya and and Takizawa meant that the team finished with a 1/0/2/1 record and a score of -31.5. They remain in 8th place, but it’s still early in the season.
The Kazokawa Sakura Knights take 6th place this week in both the performance rankings and the actual standings. The two strong players of the team from last season, Uchikawa and Hori, placed 4th in their games, while Sawazaki and Okada placed a solid 1st and 2nd, respectively in their games. Their record this week is 1/1/0/2 and they end with a score of -38.9.
In 7th place is the Shibuya Abemas. Even with Shiratori’s good performance, the rest of the team struggled with only 3 hand won between the three others. They end the week with a record of 0/1/2/1 and a score of -89.6.
Finally, in 8th place, we have the Akasaka Drivens. They had quite a few good moments, from Maruyama’s 4th place escape to Murakami’s extremely quick haneman, but couldn’t get the points that they wanted. With a record of 0/1/2/1 and a score of -95.9, the team drops down in the standings from 3rd to 7th
