M-League 2021 Week 4: Streaks

Standings

For the 2nd time this season, the EX Furinkazan takes the top spot in this week’s performance ranking. For the 3rd week in a row, the EX Furinkazan has scored positive. The headliners for the team this week are Rumi, who got two 1sts and sits 4th in the individual standings, and Katsumata, who just won another 1st and sits 2nd in the individual standings. The team had a 3/0/1/0 record this week to gain +194.5. With the huge result, the team breaks the +300.0 barrier in 15 games, faster than the Akasaka Drivens last year who did it in 18 games.

In 2nd place is the Konami Mahjong Fight Club. At the start of the week, wins by both Sasaki and Takizawa put the team on a 4-game winning streak. Though two 3rds at the end of the week caused them to lose some points, their rise in the standings from 5th to 2nd is quite significant. This is the team’s 2nd week in a row with positive results.

Next, we have the Kadokawa Sakura Knights. The team was so close to having their 3rd week in a row with a negative results. However, clutch win in S4-0 by Hori to tie for 1st helped the team become positive. Despite these gains, the team still sits in 6th place.

In 4th place in the performance ranking are the U-Next Pirates. Last week, the team got -12.8. This week, the team got +12.8. The team is really struggling to get 1sts, only getting one 1st out of their 16 games. This week, they managed to keep avoiding 4th and gained points with sizeable 2nds, two of them by Asakura who now sits 3rd in the individual standings. Their 0/3/1/0 record this week brings the team’s overall record to 1/9/4/2, giving them the highest 2nd place rate and the lowest 4th place rate, but also the lowest 1st place rate in the league.

The Shibuya Abemas take 5th place in the performance standings. The team did pretty well, even Hinata got 4th place and went to the negatives despite the fact she never dealt in. An even 1/1/1/1 record and a +5.9 point gain, the team remains just above the 0 line. The team drops down a bit to 4th place in the overall standings.

Going into the negatives, Team Raiden takes 6th place. Transitioning from their missteps last week, the teams finally got a 1st place (albeit a tie for 1st) by Honda, breaking their 7-game winless streak. The team got an even 1/1/1/1 record this week and lost -23.5 and sits in 7th place, making this their 3rd week in a row with negative results.

The Sega Sammy Phoenix take 7th place in the performance rankings. The 2019 MVP, Uotani Yuumi, got a strong 1st and 2nd to balance out the losses from Tojo and Kayamori. The team’s 1/1/0/2 record this week and a -37.7 loss drops the team down just a bit to 3rd place.

And finally, in last place, we have the Akasaka Drivens. Last week, it was Team Raiden won lost all four of their games. This week, the Akasaka Drivens lost all four of their games, getting negatives in two of them. The team now sit deep into 8th place and 214.6pts behind the 7th place team.
