M-League 2021 Week 5: Challenge Accepted

Standings

The top performer this week are the Akasaka Drivens. After having a horrible performance last week, they really brought all they had to the table. All of the team members played this week and all of them (except for Unlucky Murakami) got a 1st. With the great 3/0/0/1 record this week and earning +119.1 points, they reduce their gap between them and 7th from 214.6 to 53.1.

In 2nd place this week is the Konami Mahjong Fight Club. The power of the TakiHisa Challenge and the two firsts was a big help to the team’s score With a record of 2/0/2/0 and a score of +92.8, they move closer to the EX Furinkazan. This is the team’s 3rd week in a row gaining points.

Surprisingly going into the negatives, the U-Next Pirates take 3rd place in the performance rankings. The team finally got their 2nd first of the season courtesy of Kobayashi, but their 1/1/1/1 record this week caused their score to even out. Going -1.4 this week, the team just barely stays in the positives, though they do move up to 4th place.

The EX Furinkazan take 4th place in the performance rankings. The team started out with a big loss from Rumi, but another win from Katsumata and som solid 2nds from RumiAki Challenge minimized the teams losses. The team went 1/2/0/1 this week with a loss of -10.4. Due to their large lead at the start of the week, the team remains in 1st place.

In 5th place we have the Kadokawa Sakura Knights. The team’s week was full of 2nd places (save for a 4th). The team’s best game was from Hori who was very close to getting a 1st. With a record of 0/3/0/1 and a drop of 14.1 points, the team sits in 5th overall.

The Shibuya Abemas take 6th place. The team had a mediocre week with a record of 0/2/2/0 and a loss of 20.6 points. The team still sits in the middle of the pack in 4th place overall.

Team Raiden. A strong start from Setokuma, the team started to leak points, finishing with an unlucky last from Hagiwara to end off the week. With a record of 1/0/2/1 and a score of -29.1 this week, the team remains in 7th place.

And finally, in 8th place in the performance rankings, is the Sega Sammy Phoenix. The typically strong Kondo dropped his two games, while Uotani and Tojo got 3rd and 4th, respectively. Their 0/0/1/3 record and a drop of 156.3 points caused the team to make a big drop, moving from3rd place down to 7th place.

An interesting note to add is that the difference between 1st and 2nd is bigger than the difference between 3rd and 8th.
