Standings
For the 3rd time this season, With a record of 1/3/0/0 and a gain of +89.1, the EX Furinkazan takes top spot in this week’s performance rankings. With a 1st place from Katsumata and 2nd place support from the Nikaido sisters, the team breaks the +600.0 point barrier faster than any other team in M-League history.
2nd place in this week’s performance rankings are the Kadokawa Sakura Knights. Although the team got a 3rd and 4th at the end of the week, a double 1st at the start of the week by Hori gave the team enough padding to stay in the positives. The +48.6 gain and 2/0/1/1 record this week gives the team their 3rd positive week and helps them closed the gap on the Konami Mahjong Fight Club.
The Sega Sammy Phoenix are 3rd in the performance rankings this week. Going into the South 4 in their last game of the week, it seemed like the team would have yet another negative week. But with a clutch performance from Kayamori to go from 4th to 1st took the team out of the dumps and into positive territory. The 1/1/2/0 record and +64.2 gain this week moved the team up to 5th place overall.
In 4th in the performance rankings is the Konami Mahjong Fight Club. Despite powerhouse Sasaki losing his 3rd game in a row, Date has stepped up in his stead, winning her 3rd game in a row and leading in all three individual categories (before Katsumata passed her on Friday in the indivdual points category). The team’s 1sts this week managed to better the results of the 4ths to end up gaining +26.9 with their 2/0/0/2 record.
Rounding out the gainers this week are the U-Next Pirates. Breaking their 3-week negative streak, the team finally has a positive with a +24.9 gain and a record of 1/2/0/1. Even though Asakura got a last place to start the week, two 2nds by Mizuhara helped raise the team’s score and Asakura was able to get a 1st place to end the week. The gain by the team helped them move up in the overall standings, going from 6th to 5th.
Going into negative territory, the Shibuya Abemas take 6th place in the performance rankings. Shiratori maintained his 100% last place avoidance rate by getting a 1st to start of the week, but mediocre scores from Hinata and Matsumoto caused the team to drop their 2nd week in a row. With a loss of -18.4 and a 1/1/1/1 record, the team loses ground on 3rd place.
The Akasaka Drivens take 7th place this week. The progress the team had in the Week 6 was almost completely erased by the total of their Week 7 and Week 8 results. For the 10th game in a row, the team couldn’t get a 1st. With the 0/0/3/1 record and -108.4 loss, the team drops down from 5th to 7th.
And finally, for the 2nd week in a row, Team Raiden takes 8th place. Their 15th game in a row without a 1st, the team really is struggling. They have already gone lower than any team has gone last season. We’re more than a third of the way through the season, so the team has to do some serious work if they want to undo the damage by the two-thirds mark. Losing -126.9 and a record of 0/1/1/2, the team’s total is down to -464.0.
