M-League 2021 Week 14: Redemption

Standings

U-Next Pirates are 1st in both this week’s performance rankings and the overall standings. It only took the team 800 days to get back to 1st place in the regular season. Two 50,000+ performances for Kobayashi to him to have a positive season score led the way for the team, as well as a 1st place for Mizuhara to put her 1st place in the individual standings. Their record of 3/0/0/1 this week got them +168.8 in order to make the jump from 5th to 1st.

Next are the EX Furinkazan. After 5 straight weeks of being negative, the team has started to turn things around. Good results from both Matsugase and Katsumata brought back up near the top. With their 1/2/1/0 record this week and +73.0 point gain, the team gets back into 2nd place overall.

The Akasaka Drivens are 3rd place in the performance rankings. The team had a double top day at the start of the week with Taro and Murakami getting strong wins. Even though they stumbled a bit in the second half of the week, the team is getting closer and closer to being above the cutoff. The team had a 2/1/0/1 record and +70.5 point gain this week, erasing almost all of the losses they incurred the past two weeks.

4th in the performance rankings are the Kadokawa Sakura Knights. Though this would seem like a mediocre week to many, the birthday luck from Sawazaki and Okada’s breakthrough win has brought needed positivity to the team. If the momentum continues, we can expect the team to challenge for top spot. This week, the team had a record of 1/1/2/0 and a gain of 39.3, pushing them closer to the top of the standings.

The last positive team this week is the Shibuya Abemas. Despite the low gain of +12.5, the team, the team was able to do some nice 4th place avoidance this week with their 1/1/2/0 record. The team is still hanging onto the 6th place position, though they are losing some ground.

Going into the negative teams, the Sega Sammy Phoenix take 6th spot in the performance rankings. For 5 out of the 8 games this week, the Sega Sammy Phoenix were in top spot due to Konami losing some games. However, they were unable to sustain it and yielded the spot to the Pirates. They did have some strong 2nds this week, but they will need push those 2nds into 1sts if they want to take back top spot.

7th is Team Raiden. Their winless streak extends to 11, the team’s total is below -700.0 and all team members are negative. The season may be gone at this point, but next couple of weeks will be important to prove that they deserve to stay on the team and to gain experience. This week, the team had a loss of -82.2 and a record of 0/1/2/1.

Finally, in 8th place, is the Konami Mahjong Fight Club. After being on the top of the leaderboard for the first time in the club’s history, the team lost it all with four straight losses. This lack of flow was felt the most when Takamiya had a -20,900 game despite some promising iishantens. With the 0/0/0/4 record and -226.0 drop, the team slips hard, going down from 1st to 5th place and extending their winless streak to 12 games.
