Standings
The top performers this week are the U-Next Pirates. After taking a huge hit in the first quarter, the team made up some of the losses in the four games they played. From Kobayashi’s dora tanki to Ishibashi ura ura, the dora luck helped the team be the best team of the quarter. If they can continue this in the second half of the semifinals, they have a good chance of making the finals. This quarter, the team went 2/0/1/1 and gained +55.6, staying in 4th place, but closing the gap on the upper teams.
The next-best performers are Sega Sammy Phoenix. The team viewed a 4th place as a disaster, so they avoided it. It started with some big hands from Uotani to take 1st, followed by a second from Kayamori. And though they got a double 3rd in their next set of games, they had a score of above 20,000 in both of them. Despite the decent 1/1/2/0 record and +48.0 gain, the team still sits in 5th place. However, they have shown that they have what they need to climb up in the rankings in the second half of the semifinals.
The last gaining team this quarter is the EX Furinkazan. The good news is that the team didn’t move down. The bad news is that the team hardly went up. Aki and Katsumata were the players of the week, with Aki gaining and Katsumata losing. For Aki, she chose her moments carefully and took advantage when it was her time to strike. In total, she gained +57.3. For Katsumata, he got a good start, but lost his points in the south round. In total, he went -55.9. For the team, together they went 1/1/1/1 and gained +1.2. The team has a bit of work to do, but if they can get some 1sts, they will make it.
Going into the negatives, the Shibuya Abemas are the 4th-best performer. For Matsumoto, Hinata and Shiratori, this quarter was another strong one, gaining points for the team with some big hands. But for Ooi, it was a hard fall. After 19 straight games without a 4th, he had a big -5,800 loss to kill his streak and put his team into the negatives. This quarter the team went -2.2pts and had a record of 1/2/0/1. As long as Ooi can brush off the loss, the team can stave off the chasers and make the finals.
In 5th place is the Konami Mahjong Fight Club. Overall, the team struggled to get points. A 3rd and 4th with a 10,900 score, they couldn’t find the wins. Even in Takizawa’s 1st place, he only won 3,300 in total through his raw hand value, with the rest of the points being from draws and bonus points. This quarter, the team went 1/0/2/1 with a loss of -39.3.
And finally, we have the Kadokawa Sakura Knights. It was a painful four games for the team. None of them could get ahead in the east round. Even if they were able to get points in the south round, they weren’t able to get enough to make it to 1st. And the one time they did have a chance at 1st, a small incident killed it. With a 0/2/0/2 record and a losing 63.5pts, the team dropped from 2nd to 3rd. As long as the team can stop the slow bleed, they will make the finals.
This Week’s M-League Stats
That’s all for this quarter! We are halfway through the semifinals, which means that there is still one more half let to go! Will there be a big shakeup in the standings? Will there be surprises at the M-League Premium Night on March 31? Will there be more uradora madness? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
