Dama

April 19, Game 1, E1-0

In E1-0, Shiratori is the dealer and starts out 3-shanten, but lacks value. In the first row, he draws two 4m dora, creates a few ryanmens and gets to 2-shanten by the end of the row. In the middle of the 2nd row, Shiratori draws a red 5p to get to tenpai and waits dama on a 258s sanmenchan for mangan minimum. On the very next turn, Shiratori draws the 8s and wins the hand. Shiratori wins the hand with Tsumo/Pinfu/Tanyao/Dora 2/Aka 1 for 6,000 all, starting the game off with a dealer haneman.

Rinshan

April 19, Game 1, E1-1

In E1-1, Kayamori is chasing down Shiratori after his dealer haneman. She starts the hand off at 3-shanten with a pair of easts. On turn 2, she draws a third east to make an ankou. On turn 3, she creates a kanchan to get to 2-shanten. In the 2nd row, Kayamori creates a pair, makes a kanchan and gets to tenpai by the end of the row, staying dama on a 5s kanchan.

At the start of the 3rd row, Shiratori gets to tenpai and calls riichi on a 25p ryanmen, with the 5p giving sanshoku.

On the ippatsu turn, Kayamori converts the kanchan into a ryanmen and calls riichi on a 58s wait.

On the ippatsu turn, Kayamori draws a fourth east and calls kan.

From the dead wall, Kayamori draws the east to win the hand. Kayamori wins with Riichi/Tsumo/East/Rinshan/Dora 1/Ura 2 for 3,000+100/6,000+100, another haneman in East 1.

In E2-1, Shiratori is in 1st place and trying to widen the gap between him and Kayamori. He starts out with a 3-shanten hand with a 2s dora and a red 5s. In the first row, he gets a pair of red dragons, and advances to iishanten. When Hori discards a red dragon late in the 2nd row, Shiratori calls pon to get to tenpai on a 3s kanchan. In the 3rd row, Kayamori calls riichi on a 14s ryanmen, but Shiratori beats out the riichi by drawing the 3s just two turns later. Shiratori wins the hand with Red Dragon/Dora 1/Aka 1 for 1,000+100/2,000+100

In E3-0, Shiratori starts out with a mess of a hand, being 4-shanten for chiitoi (5-shanten for a standard hand) with a 5s dora and an isolated 1p dora. He picks up a red 5m in the first row, but doesn’t get too far, still being 3-shanten for chiitoi (4-shanten for a standard hand) at the end of the row. The 2nd row goes much better for Shiratori, giving him the red 5p and getting him to iishanten for both chiitoi and a standard hand by turn 11. On turn 12, Shiratori draws a 6th pair and stays dama on a 5m tanki wait, later switching to a green dragon wait. Shiratori is challenged again, this time by Hori in the 3rd row, but Shiratori again beats it by switching to a 7s/north shanpon and winning off of Kayamori’s north discard. Shiratori wins the hand with Iipeikou/Aka 2 for 5,200, plus Hori’s riichi stick.

In E4-0, Shiratori starts out with a good hand, being 3-shanten for both a standard hand and chiitoi, as well as holding two 3s dora and a red 5m. When the east comes out on turn 1, Shiratori instantly calls pon to advance to 2-shanten. On turn 3, Shiratori is already iishanten. His hand stalls a bit, but he is able to find tenpai late in the 2nd row to wait on a 3m penchan. Hori draws the 3m right after Shiratori gets to tenpai and ends up dealing in. Shiratori wins the hand with East/Dora 2/Aka 1 for 8,000 to put him above 50,000.

Kayamori Chase

April 19, Game 1, S3-1

In S3-1, Kayamori is in 2nd place as the dealer and 21,900 behind 1st place Shiratori. She starts off the hand 2-shanten with a ryanmen and an 8m dora already incorporated into the hand. On turn 3, she advances to iishanten, still needing to find one more group. On turn 4, she gets to tenpai, but stays dama on her bad 3p penchan wait. On turn 5, she improves her hand to include ittsuu and calls riichi on a 5p kanchan. In the middle of the 2nd row, Kayamori draws the 5p to win the hand. Kayamori wins with Riichi/Tsumo/Ittsuu/Dora 1 for 4,000+100 all to come within 5,500 of the lead.

In the end, Shiratori was able to stave off Kayamori in the rest of South 3 and in South 4 to win the game.

Standings

With the loss from Hori and a 2nd from Kayamori, the Phoenix and Sakura Knights switch places once again. The winner of the game, Shiratori, broke the team’s slide and got the team much closer to the lead pack. Meanwhile, Konami keeps dropping further and further with Sasaki’s 3rd place.
