M-League 2022-23 Week 2: Renchan

Standings

The top team this week is the Shibuya Abemas. +241.0 this week. A record of 3/1/0/0. An average of more than +60.0 per player this week. A lot of dealer repeats. A higher week score than any week last season. If they can continue this, they will definitely be a major contenders in the playoffs.

2nd in this week’s performance rankings are the Kadokawa Sakura Knights. Nice wins by Okada, a comeback from the negatives to get to 2nd by Uchikawa, Shibukawa fighting against a riichi to go hadaka tanki and win the hand, the team did quite well. Going 1/2/0/1 and gaining +53.4, the team increased their score and secured their spot in the top 3.

Konami Mahjong Fight Club take 3rd in this week’s performance rankings. The team was able to stand strong in the face of adversity. Hisato was able to go from 3rd to 1st late in the south round, Date avoided dealing into all the dealer repeats and Takizawa and Takamiya were able to avoid falling into 4th. This week, the team went 1/1/2/0 and added +39.3 to the team’s total.

4th is Team Raiden. After spending much of last season in the negatives, Team Raiden is now in the positives! Setokuma is the team’s MVP this week, going on a dealer rampage in his second game and was the one who pushed the team above 0. This week, they went 1/2/0/1 and gained +39.2.

Going into the negatives, the Sega Sammy Phoenix are 5th. Kayamori did well to escape 4th in her game, but she still lost points, along with Kondo and Uotani. Tojo, on the other hand, got a 1st to keep the team from falling down a place. This week, they went 1/0/2/1 and -42.7.

EX Furinkazan are 6th. The week started out well with Rumi getting her first 1st after her third game, but Katsumata and Matsugase weren’t able to carry the momentum. The team actually went up to 6th place in the standings, but the team still went -80.9 with a record of 1/0/1/2.

In 7th are the Akasaka Drivens. It was a difficult week for the team, particularly for Sonoda. His unlucky 8p baiman deal-in alone, his own score went down -44.0. With none of his teammates able to get 1st, the team dropped to 7th as they went-113.7 with a record of 0/1/2/1.

And finally, in last place, we have the U-Next Pirates. It was the UK duo (Suzuki Yu and Nakabayashi Kei) and it seemed like they were still adjusting. They weren’t able to go on big dealer repeats like their opponents and lost points on tsumo. Their -135.6pts and 0/1/1/2 record this week could be considered an off-week, but it still puts the team in 8th place and still without a 1st place.
