M-League 2022-23 Week 7: Reversal

Standings

The team with the best performance this week is the Akasaka Drivens. This is the break that the team has been waiting for. Three wins in a row and gaining over +200.0. Sonoda is on a three-game winning streak and Taro has won twice in a row. Another week like this and the team will be in the positives. This week, the team went 3/1/0/0 and gained +223.2 to move into 6th place.

Next is the EX Furinkazan. It was Aki’s birthday week and boy, did the luck ever come. On her 100th regular season game which also happened to be her birthday, she won her first game of the season. When she played again on Friday, she won yet again, winning with the team’s second-best results this season. With the 2/1/0/1 record and +75.3 gain,. the team moves into 3rd place, marks their 5th positive week in a row and closes the gap on the leaders.

The last gaining team this week is the Konami Mahjong Fight Club. Avoiding 4th was the name of the game this week. As always, Date was able to show a great performance with a 1st place in her game. Small gains for Takamiya and Hisato kept the team moving upwards, with Hisato moving into 1st place in the individual standings. With the +52.0 gain and 1/2/1/0 record, the team moves closer and closer to the Shibuya Abemas.

Going into the negatives, the Sega Sammy Phoenix are 4th in the performance rankings. Kayamori was able to take advantage of her dealer turn and get a win, but Kondo is still struggling. Still without a 1st and getting another 4th, he falls to the bottom of the individual standings. Unfortunately for the team, their 1/0/2/1 record and -25.5 loss puts the team in 8th place, at the bottom of the overall standings.

In 5th are the Kadokawa Sakura Knights. The team is continuing to go on a downward spiral, sitting with 3 straight weeks of negative results. Hori got a last to move into the negatives in the individual point totals and Shibukawa is still registering point losses. On the bright side, Uchikawa did okay this week, getting a 1st for the team and prevented a greater loss. This week, they went 1/0/2/1 with a loss of -27.5.

The Shibuya Abemas are next. This is the team’s first week of negative results, a “disastrous” week when compared to the others. Ooi registers another loss and Matsumoto and Hinata registered annoying 3rds. However, even with these drops, Shirato gained points and the team is still far in the lead. This week, they went 0/1/2/1 and lost -71.9.

7th in the performance rankings are the U-Next Pirates. Unlucky deal-ins and close games plagued the team. However, Nakabayashi’s South 4 comeback did shine a little positive light for the team. The team still remains in 5th place in the standings, but they have lost -73.2 with their 0/2/0/2 record, breaking their 4-game positive week streak.

And finally, last in this week’s performance rankings, we have Team Raiden. After almost a month away from M-League, Hagiwara returned with a bit of rust. After a commendable performance in his 1st game, he went into the negatives in the second game. In the second half of the week, Setokuma and Kurosawa just weren’t able to gain anything. With their 0/1/1/2 record and -152.4 loss this week, the team drops back into the negatives and fall to 4th place.
