After being in 4th place for much of the game, Matsugase popped off late in the south roudn to win his game. With Rumi win her game right after, the team rightfully took top spot in the league and the weekly standings. With a +117.3pts gain and a 2/1/1/0 record this week, the team has just under a 100.0pts lead over 2nd.
Next is the U-Next Pirates. After being the top performer last week, the U-Next Pirates carried that momentum into this week. Going into this week, the team was in 5th place. In Mizuhara’s game on Friday, a strong South 4 performance put her in 1st place. With a bit of luck, Kobayashi was able to keep a small but very valuable 1st in his game to finish of the week. With a record 2/1/0/1 and a gain of +78.8pts, the team moves up to 3rd place.
the 3rd-best performer this week is the Kadokawa Sakura Knights. The team was able to cancel almost of of their losses last week. The week started off with a dominant performance from Uchikawa, taking advantage his dealership with a haneman and finishing the game with his second-best score this season. With some strong challenges by Shibukawa to get two second, the team gained more points. And though Hori was unable to win and finished 4th, the team still finished the week with a 1/2/0/1 and a +50.7pts gain, widening their gap over 7th and closing their gap on 5th.
The Shibuya Abemas are next in the performance rankings. After five straight weeks of negative results, the Shibuya Abemas finally have a positive week! The strong results started with Hinata holding onto slim 1st place and getting the placement bonus. This was followed by Matsumoto sneaking into 2nd place in the last hand to reduce their losses. The last half of the week didn’t look as good, with Shiratori getting a 4th and Ooi looking like he was about to lose late in the south round. However, the team captain was able to win a clutch final hand to move into 2nd and securing the positive week. This week, the team went 1/2/0/1 and gained+17.7pts, though the team did fall down to 5th.
The last gaining team this week is the Sega Sammy Phoenix. Despite the 1/1/1/1 record and +11.3pts gain, the Sega Sammy Phoenix look like a team fighting for a playoff spot. Though bad luck befell Uotani, Tojo was able win a huge ippatsu baiman to get a big lead and win her game. Even when Kayamori was down, she fought hard, won two big hands in a row and was just a han shy from taking 1st. If the team can continue this startegy and get bigger results, they will be a force to be reckoned with.
Going into the negatives, the Konami Mahjong Fight Club take 6th in the performance rankings. It was quite the close week for the team. Takamiya’s big loss in the first gain was cancelled and made positive by Date’s 4 limit hands in a row. Hisato got a 2nd in his game and the baton was passed to Takizawa. The game was close, but it didn’t end in his favour, finishing 4th and only 6,400 behind 1st place. With the -9.6pts loss and 1/1/0/2 record, the team slips down a bit to 2nd place.
Akasaka Drivens are next in the performance rankings. Their stats were good, but the results didn’t follow. Taro had two wins in one game without dealing in and got 3rd. Taro had 4 wins with two deal-ins and got 3rd as well. When Murakami had the better wait, he wasn’t able to win. When he had a game-winning hand in the final hand, he couldn’t draw it. With similar strength and better luck, the team can start to dig their way out. This week, they went 0/0/3/1 with a score -120.8pts, putting them below -600.0pts.
And finally, coming in last in the performance rankings, we have Team Raiden. After reaching the team’s best scores of all time, their streak of strong results has come to an end. The team was quite unlucky this week, with Kurosawa and Setokuma unable to call riichi in their games. In Hagiwara’s game, he didn’t deal in a single time and ended the game in the negaives. With a -145.4pts loss and a record of 0/0/3/1 this week, Team Raiden falls from 3rd to 5th.
