M-League 2022-23 Finals: Games #15-16 and the Awards Ceremony

Final Thoughts

Jellicode

It’s been 5 years of M-League, 4 years of finals and 3 full seasons of writing articles. There has been a lot of change over this time, and change leads to transformation.

This M-League 2022-23 season had a great amount of change. We said goodbye to two players on my favourite team, the U-Next Pirates, and welcomed two new members joining the crew. There was a time that overseas viewers couldn’t watch M-League and the overseas community lobbied to bring it back. There were also some smaller things like waits, yaku and definitions on screen. Through these changes, we saw new beginnings, awareness of the English-speaking community and the greater accessibility for all, all for the improvement of the league.

For me, watching these changes play out encouraged me to make more changes, from writing more to posting more stats on the Discord server. And I loved every minute of it. I hope to continue doing this next season and for more seasons to come!

Ozball

How is it the end of the season already?! Congrats to Abemas for finally breaking their 3rd place curse. And it will be interesting to see how Drivens changes next year.

All in all its been a great year, even with the Great M-League Blackout over song rights of all things, and I would like to thank all of the community members for sticking with us through all of it. Hoping we see more exciting mahjong next season!

M-League Watch Team

This site started in May 2020 and has grown so much since then. What started out as a pandemic project has turned into a community. People from all over the world coming together to watch people throw tiles, through tears of joy and tears of sadness.

Even through the Great M-League Blackout, we kept moving forward, bringing more articles, GIFs and stats. Even when fewer people could watch, more people joined and the community grew bigger and bigger. Doing what we love, together.

The M-League Watch team would like to congratulate the Shibuya Abemas on winning the championship! To our readers and fans, thank you all for your support and for continuing to read our articles. We couldn’t do this without you.

And that’s all for the M-League 2022-23 Season! Though the season is over, there are a still a ton of off-season events awaiting us this summer. From IKUSA to the M-Tournament to the Draft, we will keep you updated on all the action! Who will win these new tournaments? Who will be staying and who will be drafted? Who will be the champions next season? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
