When the 2022-23 season ended, we sat patiently, waiting for M-League to return. Now, after months of waiting, we are back for a new season of M-League! This week, we had a team and multiple players making their debut, new graphics and new goods for fans. We also had some classic M-League plays of sneaky waits, ura flips, and even a yakuman chance! With so much to discover in this first week, let’s get right into it, shall we?
Opening Ceremony

At 17:30 JST on September 18, 2023, the opening ceremony for the 2023-24 season began. With Matsushima Momo as the MC, all nine teams were introduced. The Beast Japanext was introduced first, then the rest of the teams went afterwards going in reverse order of the 2022-23 final standings. Each player walked up the stage individually through four aisles in the crowd.

Once the nine teams were up on stage, Ooi Takaharu and M-League Chairman Fujita Susumu stepped forward. Ooi handed the plate over to Fujita Susumu and the the plate was returned to its pedestal, waiting for its next winner.

Each team captain then took a bit of time make a short speech. Once the speeches were over, the senior advisor of M-League, Kawabuchi Saburo, came onto the stage and official opened the 2023-24 season. With one big cheer, we were ready to go!
New Graphics

With a new season comes new graphics. During the player introductions, they now have a virtual sponsor banner scrolling above the table.

After every hand is won, they now show the fu value along with the han and yaku.

Also new this year is atozuke shading. If a player has a wait that would not give them a valid yaku, overlay will will have that tile shaded.
Contests
As has been done for the past two seasons, Nissin is offering a lifetime supply of U.F.O yakisoba to the first player to win a chiihou. Unlike last season, however, they will only give one lifetime supply instead of two.
In addition, there is now a new contest that is open to all fans in Japan. Whenever a player has a kan worth four dora, whether:
- Concealed or open kan of current dora
- Any kan that later becomes dora
- Any kan (even when not part of the winning hand) becomes dora due to an uradora reveal.
Nissin will be giving away 100 cups of Complete Meal Curry Meshi to four people who tweet #槓全メシ完全メシ祭.
New Merch
Illustrated by former Akasaka Drivens player Maruyama Kanako, M-League has licensed stickers and handheld fans of all 36 M-League players that can be purchased and printed at any Lawson Print store in Japan.
M-League Cross-Country Tour
M-League will be visiting 9 different areas in Japan to host public viewings in its “M-League Cross-Country Ittsuu Tour”. Four M-Leaguers will be at the events and free swag will be given out to all attendees.
