M-League 2023-24 Week 3: Unbroken

Standings

For the third week in a row, the Konami Mahjong Fight Club is the biggest gainer of the week, getting 103.3pts over their past 4 games. Hisato gets his third 1st of the season (the same as or more than any single team so far) and they avoid 4th in all their games yet again. With a 60% 1st place rate, the space between them and 2nd place is larger than the space between 3rd and 9th.

Team Raiden, Akasaka Drivens, Shibuya Abemas and U-Next Pirates all had mild gains this week, moving up slightly. Ooi made his season debut on Friday and had an impressive 41,400 2nd place, the Akasaka Drivens and Team Raiden both had back-to-back 2nds and the U-Next Pirates are back in the positives.

Going to the droppers, we have the Sega Sammy Phoenix and Beast Japanext. Uotani and Daisuke both got their first wins of the season in their respective rollercoaster games, but their other three games weren’t the greatest. The Phoenix ended up even this week with a 1/1/1/1 record but lost -28.1pts, the Beast dropped -22.7pts for their third negative week in a row.

And the biggest droppers this week are the EX Furinkazan and Kadokawa Sakura Knights. Each of them had a highlight with Shibukawa and Rumi getting a 1st on friday, but heavy negatives from Uchikawa and Aki displaced those gains. The Kadokawa Sakura Knights had the biggest drop with -93.4pts, going from 3rd to 6th. Despite this, there are still more than 20 weeks in the regular season to recover.

And that’s all for this week! October is our first full month of M-League action with a lot of potential madness. Can Konami keep climbing? Can the EX Furinkazan escape? Can Hisato make it 4 in a row? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
