M-League 2023-24 Week 4: Unlikely

Standings

The top team this week is the U-Next Pirates, breaking Konami’s three-week winning streak. With Yu, Kobayashi and Nakabayashi all getting wins this week, the team earned a total of 177.7pts this week. If Mizuhara gets 1st place on Monday, maybe GONENGO will give their employees an extra day off.

The other big winner this week are the Sega Sammy Phoenix. Both Uotani and Tojo were able to get 1sts this week, with Uotani moving into the top 5 of the individual standings. They jump up from 8th to 5th and are a 1st place away from the positives.

The last gainer of the week is the EX Furinkazan. Though they only played two games, they had back-to-back 2nds for a +15.8pts gain and moved up to 8th place.

The Shibuya Abemas, Akasaka Drivens, Konami Mahjong Fight Club, Team Raiden and Kadokawa Sakura Knights all had decent losses this week, ranging from -12.5pts to -53.5pts. With the Pirates and Phoenix dominating the week, these other teams had to limit their losses and scrounge up the few points that they could. This week gave the Konami Mahjong Fight Club their first loss of the season, dropped Taro and Kurosawa to the bottom of the standings and most teams dropped down at least one rank.

Finally, the biggest dropper this week is the Beast Japanext. Despite Sarukawa’s first win of the season, he ended up registering a 4th along with Daisuke and Sugawara. By the end of the week, they were down -87.6pts, their fourth losing week in a row.

And that’s all for this week! Just like that, we are halfway through the month of October. Can the U-Next Pirates continue their successful pillaging? Can the Beast Japanext roar back to life? How many more Ura 3 wins will be won? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
