Standings
The Shibuya Abemas are this week’s top performers. Shiratori was the master of the week, getting 1st place against some difficult competition and a 2nd for additional points. Ooi provided some stiff competition for Futoshi and Hinata avoided 4th in her game. In total, the team gained +73.2pts and moved up to 5th place.
Making small gains this week were the Beast Japanext, Akasaka Drivens and Sega Sammy Phoenix. The Beast doubled the nnumber of firsts they had, the Akasaka Driven’s Watanabe Futoshi got the first win of his career and the Sega Sammy Phoenix avoided 4th all this week. Both the Beast and Drivens rise in the standings, the Beast going up two ranks and Drivens going up one.
On the other side of the standings, the EX Furinkazan, Konami Mahjong Fight Club, U-Next Pirates and Kadokawa Sakura Knights all had small losses this week. The lead held by both the Konami Mahjong Fight Club and U-Next Pirates allowed them to absorb the losses with little consequence and the paltry -0.1pts loss by the EX Furinkazan can hardly be considered a loss. Unfortunately for the Kadokawa Sakura Knights, the -33.6pts drop was enough for them to drop from 7th to 9th.
Having the biggest losses this week is Team Raiden. On Thursday, it started with Honda getting a haneman, but he ended up in 3rd place. In the second game, Hagiwara was unable to counter the limit hands by his three opponents and lost many points from tsumo. By the end of the game, he had -13,700 for his first loss of the season. Going down -87.9pts, the team down to around 0pts and in 4th place.
And that’s all for this week! We are just over 1/6 of the way through the regular season. Can the Shibuya Abemas make their way into the positives? Can Team Raiden and the Kadokawa Sakura Knights smake a recovery? How many more hanemans will we have? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
