Standings
The top performing team this week is the Akasaka Drivens. On Tuesday, Taro and Futoshi played for the team and both players got a 1st place. Avoiding 4th place on Thursday, they gained +119.2pts with a 2/1/1/0 record to lift the team into 1st place for the first time since November 26, 2020. The results of this week also put Futoshi at the top of the 4th-place avoidance standings.
The EX Furinkazan, Sega Sammy Phoenix, Konami Mahjong Fight Club, U-Next Pirates and Team Raiden all had small gains this week ranging from +37.9pts to +18.0pts. The EX Furinkazan was effective with their two games this week, the Sega Sammy Phoenix start their climb despite Uotani getting her first 4th of the season, Konami avoids 4th, the U-Next Pirates maintain their spot in 2nd place and Team Raiden gained points in 3/4 of the games.
The Shibuya Abemas and Beast Japanext both had double-digit drops this week. After a 3rd and a 4th on Tuesday, the Shibuya Abemas fell into negative territory. For the Beast Japanext, three 4ths this week (including Nakada Kana’s first 4th) pushes the team further down.
Coming last in the performance rankings is the Kadokawa Sakura Knights. It seems to be a trend that teams that take 1st place in the standings will have a big drop immediately after. Unable to get 1st or 2nd, the team lost points in all of their games. With a 0/0/3/1 record and a -119.6pts loss, the team drops down to 3rd in the overall standings.
And that’s all we have for this week! We are halfway through the month and next week is our last full week of games. Who will top the standings? Can the Akasaka Drivens keep their position? Can the Beast Japanext start roaring back? Will a yakuman finally be won? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
