Standings
The top performer these past six games is the Shibuya Abemas. After starting the semifinals at the very bottom of the standings, the Shibuya Abemas have certainly turned things around. On the first day of the semis, they got back-to-back 1sts. With back-to-back 2nds a day later, they continued to push themselves higher up and finished this section with a +135.2pts gain, a 2/2/0/0 record and in 3rd place.
Next is the EX Furinkazan. Though they still remain in 5th place, they are a bit closer to 5th place and much closer to the upper ranks. Their gain was in large part from Aki’s move into 1st place in the last hand of her game. This fifth, they had a record of 1/2/1/0 and a score gain of +61.9pts. In their next four games, they will have a chance to make a dent on 1st place when they face the U-Next Pirates in all of them.
Our last gainer is the Konami Mahjong Fight Club. Still sitting in 4th place, the team has made good gains on the top 3. Hisato took a 1st place to start the team’s semifinals saga and Date got one as well on Thursday when she played in her first game in over a month. They finish this part with a 2/0/1/1 record and a gain of +48.7pts.
Going to the droppers, we have the Akasaka Drivens. In their first three games, the team wasn’t able to gain a single point. Then, on Thursday’s second game, Futoshi was able to move into top spot in the last hand to get the Akasaka Drivens their first semifinals win in almost three years. They had a 1/0/2/1 record with a -41.6pts drop, but they still hold onto 2nd place.
U-Next Pirates is the next dropper. It hasn’t been the start that the U-Next Pirates hoped for. On Tuesday, Mizuhara and Kobayashi had back-to-back 4ths, even as they only dealt in twice between them. Still, even with their -99.4pts drop and 0/1/1/2 record, the team still maintains a 213.3pts lead over 2nd place.
Finally, we have the Kadokawa Sakura Knights. After struggling in last season’s semifinals, the Kadokawa Sakura Knights continue to struggle. Uchikawa didn’t deal in during the taem’s first semifinal game, but he still ended up last. Okada dealt into last place while she was in riichi and ended up falling into 4th place herself. With neither Shibukawa nor Hori being able to get a 1st, the team ended up with a 0/1/1/2 record and a -104.8pts loss, moving them all the way down to 6th place.
This Fifth’s M-League Stats
And that’s all for this fifth! The semifinals are in full swing and we already have big changes in the standings. Can the Shibuya Abemas continue their forward momentum and close in on the 1st place U-Next Pirates? Can the Kadokawa Sakura Knights bloom again after the flowers had fallen? What will Kobayashi do with all those meal delivery coupons? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
