M-League 2024-25 Preseason: Early July Update

Over the past month and a bit, there has been a lot of action happenning in the world of M-League. Today, I’ll be going through all of it, from the draft to the off-season tournaments.

M-League 2024-25 Draft and Contract Statuses

On June 10, the Sega Sammy Phoenix dropped Uotani Yuumi and Tojo Rio, giving the team two draft picks. All the other teams chose to keep their roster.

On June 25, M-League announced that the draft would take place on the upcoming Friday.

On June 29, the Sega Sammy Phoenix drafted Takeuchi Genta and Asai Takaki. The draft can be watched for free on ABEMA.

On July 3, all the teams confirmed that they have signed contracts with their players, confirming the 36 players who will be playing in M-League this season.


Isekai x M-League Collab

On June 23 and 30, a collab was held with M-League and five different isekai anime. Each team featured a voice actor, an M-Leaguer and a comedian.



Quality Assurance in Another World

Wistoria: Wand and Sword


On June 23, 5 tonpuusen games were played with each team playing in four of them. Since the “As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I’ll Use My Appraisal Skill to Rise in the World” team had the lowest score at the end of it, they were eliminated while the other four teams moved on to a winner-takes-all final hanchan.

On June 30, the M-Leaguer on each of the four teams faced off in the final hanchan. With a decisive victory by Okada, the “Wistoria: Wand and Sword” won the tournament and took home the special championship plate.

After the game, the teams also participated in a special Last Chance Darts Challenge for additional prizes.

All five games and the Last Chance Darts Challenge are can be watched for free on ABEMA.


IKUSA

In June, the IKUSA amateur tournament ended and the qualifying round of the IKUSA pro tournament began.

Amateur Tournament Results

On June 4, the IKUSA 2024 amateur tournament finals took place. In the end, Mochiko-san won and was crowned the Battle King. The amateur tournament finals can be watched for free on the EX Furinkazan official YouTube Channel.

Pro Tournament Update

In the month of June, the IKUSA 2024 pro tournament hosted by the EX Furinkazan started. Over five days, 98 competitors faced each other to move onto the next round. Each day was livestreamed and the top four competitors each day advaced to the next round

The above 20 players will play in the semifinals on July 13, playing 5 hanchan each. The top 4 players will advance to a 4-hanchan final to determine the winner.


M-Tournament 2024 Update

In June, the first round of the M-Tournament 2024 took place.

In the first round, all four of the Kadokawa Sakura Knights members advanced to the next round. Conversely, all six non-M-Leaguer Saikouisen players were eliminated.

In the first day of the 2nd round, Wakutsu Akira, Fujishima Kenjirou, Honda Tomohiro and Kobayashi Go have all advanced to the quarterfinals. The remaining 2nd round games will take place on July 5, 8 and 12.

Pirates Treasure Hunt Results

In four days in June, both the team and individual tournaments of the Pirates Treasure Hunt took place.

Team Tournament

After an intense 8 games, Nakabayashi Kei’s team, the May Queen and Irish Cobbler Potatoes (メークインと男爵芋) won the team tournament.

The first day and second day of the team tournament are only available U-Next Pirates channel members.

Individual Tournament

A week after the team tournament, the top 8 players played in the individual tournament.

After a weekend of games, Shimoishi Geki (下石戟) emerged victorious. Both the first day and the second day can be watched for free on the U-Next Pirates official YouTube Channel.


Rage x Mahjong feat. M-League Update

As introduced in the Late May update, M-League will be collaborating with e-sports company Rage to host a special mahjong event on July 13.

Schedule

The event will consist of an opening ceremony, followed by 4 hanchans (lasting 90 minutes each with a 10 minute break in between), then an ending ceremony.
