Draft Picks

Takeuchi Genta (竹内元太)
Asai Takaki (浅井堂岐)

At the M-League 2024-25 Draft held on June 28, 2024, the Sega Sammy Phoenix drafted Takeuchi Genta (竹内元太) and Asai Takaki (浅井堂岐).

Beast Japanext Becomes Beast X

On August 23, 2024, the BS Japanext announced that it will be changing its team’s name from “Beast Japanext” to “Beast X” (read as “Beast Ten”).

New Uniforms

On August 25, 2024, M-League revealed the uniform designs for all nine teams for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

M-League Season

New Official Song

On September 13, 2024, M-League announced that the new song “WINGS ever” by UVERworld will the league’s official song for the 2024-25 season.

UVERworld songs have been used as the league’s official song for the past two years. For the 2022-23 season, M-League used the song “Nanosecond“. In the 2023-24 season, M-League used the song “ENCORE AGAIN“.


Ikkitsuukan Tour

On September 13, 2024, M-League announced that they will be running the M-League 2024-25 Cross-Country Ikkitsuukan Tour.

Over the course of the regular season, M-League will be hosting nine public viewing watch parties at various Lawson United Cinema locations across Japan.

Each public viewing will have two M-Leaguers and an M-League commentator on-site to commentate the games.

A basic seat for the event will cost ¥6,000. For a premium seat, which includes a balloon, an original postcard and a commemorative photo with an M-Leaguer, it will cost¥9,000. Tickets will be sold to the general public starting two weeks before the event. Official supporters will have early access tickets three days before they are sold to the general public. Tickets can be purchased on Lawson Ticket.


Shops and Goods

On August 28, M-League announced the opening of an M-League Pop Up Store in Nagoya.

The shop will be located inside the Maruzen Nagoya Main store from September 7 to October 9.

There will also be new merchandise sold at the four M-League official shop locations. The new merch includes t-shirts, hoodies, keychains, cups and more.

In addition, with the Beast X name change, goods featuring the old Beast Japanext name and logo will be on sale for 40% off from August 24 to September 15.

Collabs

Boss Collab

On August 8, 2024, it was announced that M-League will be collaborating with the BOSS coffee brand owned by the SUNTORY beverage company.

As part of the collab, they will be putting mahjong tiles designs on cans of BOSS coffee starting on September 3, 2024. There are 37 designs in all, featuring all 34 different mahjong tiles plus the 3 red fives.

On September 2, they released a video featuring four M-Leaguers playing a hand using the BOSS coffee cans instead of tiles. The cans were “drawn” from vending machines and the dead wall was sealed in a special case.


Jankara Karaoke Collab

On September 4, 2024, it was announced that Jankara, the largest karaoke chain in western Japan, will be hosting watch parties of the first nine M-League matches at nine different Jankara locations across Kansai.

On September 24, both Kobayashi Misa and Kobayashi Go (小林剛) will also take part and will host a karaoke corner between the two games. There will also be an original T-shirt giveaway during the event.

Each location will serve a different drink inspired by a different M-League team, as well as a coaster with the team logo on it.

Chicken Ramen presents: Shiratori-aniki vs. Hiyoko-aniki

On September 6, 2024, ABEMA released a M-League X Nissin Foods collaboration video.

Chicken Ramen presents: Shiratori-aniki vs. Hiyoko-aniki has Shibuya Abemas player Shiratori Sho (白鳥翔) (whose family name literally means “swan” or “white bird”) facing off against Nissin Foods’ mascot Hiyoko-aniki (the full-size version of Hiyoko-chan) in three different challenges:

  1. Single-suit mahjong (single suit chinitsu)
  2. Long hand reveal challenge (most tiles you can reveal in a single reveal motion)
  3. Moupai mahjong (playing blindfolded)

FRGMT Collab

On September 13, it was announced that M-League and fashion company “fragment design” (also known as “FRGMT) will be collaborating to bring a new set of mahjong and FRGMT themed goods.

Some of the mahjong products in the collab include a collab-themed AMOS REXX III, a special set of mahjong tiles and a mahjong accessory set.

On the fashion side, there are “Fragment Orphans” hoodies and a crewneck, as well as a themed blanket, cushion and nail files.

Shibuya Collab

On September 13, M-League announced that announced they will be doing a collaboration with Shibuya Yokocho, a bustling food court with soul food and entertainment from around Japan.

During the duration of this 2-week collab, M-League games will be shown on the monitors at Shibuya Yokocho. Team flags, posters and stickers will also be displayed throughout.
