The biggest gainer this week is the U-Next Pirates. On Tuesday, 2023-24 MVP Yu and 2021-22 MVP Mizuhara were fielded for the team. With Yu going up to bat first, he was able to make the most of his two won hands and get his second 1st in a row. With Mizuhara’s game, she won just under half of the hands in the game and won with 62,400, the team’s best score so far this season. With their two wins, the team got its first daily double of the season. Though they lost a bit on Friday, their 2/1/0/1 record and +75.4pts gain helped the team move up to 4th place overall.
Team Raiden, Sega Sammy Phoenix, Akasaka Drivens and Kadokawa Sakura Knights also gained points this week. Team Raiden’s week started out with Hagiwara getting his first win of the season and ended with the team being the top performer on Thursday. The Sega Sammy Phoenix had Kayamori winning a game with 52,700 and netting them their seventh week in a row of gains. The Akasaka Drivens had an even 1/1/1/1 record this week, but Taro’s 47,500 2nd place and Sonoda’s 45,100 1st place helped edge the team slightly positive. For the Kadokawa Sakura Knights, their two 2nds for their two games this week gained them +8.2pts.
Losing points are the Konami Mahjong Fight Club, Beast X and Shibuya Abemas. The Konami Mahjogn Fight Club can barely be considered dropping as they only dropped -0.1pts (with Date’s 71,900 win on Friday making the week seem much more positive). The Beast X had a double 3rd for their only two games of the week to stay steady in 8th place. And with the big 3rd places by Shiratori and Hinata, the Shibuya Abemas registered their seventh week of losses in a row.
FInally, we have the EX Furinkazan. Matsugase had a rough week this week, playing two games and losing both of them. In one of them, he was tenpai for yakuman quite early and ended up dealing in. With neither Katasumata nor Aki able to get a 1st to counteract it, the team drops to below -200.0pts going into November.
And that’s all for this week! A reminder to North American viewers that Daylight Savings Time ends this Sunday, so M-League games will start an hour earlier for you if your region observes it.
This was quite an exciting week, from the yakuman chances to comebacks to the Pirates daily double. Will more teams get their first daily doubles? Will we have yet another month with no yakuman? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
