For the second week in a row, the U-Next Pirates are the weekly top-performing team. It was quite the exciting week for the team. On Monday, they started off with Mizuhara getting a 1st. In the next game, Yu managed to just barely hold and and maintain a 1st place tie, giving the team a technical daily double. With two 2nds on Friday, the team had a 2/2/0/0 record and a +128.8pts gain, the team breaks the +200.0pts mark and moves up to 3rd place.
The Shibuya Abemas, Team Raiden, Sega Sammy Phoenix and Akasaka Drivens all had gains this week as well. The Shibuya Abemas have finally gotten their first positive week, headed by Shiratori getting a 1st and then Matsumoto getting a 2nd. Team Raiden got its gains from Hagiwara’s 1st place tie and Kurosawa making a strong comeback in South 4 to get her own win. For the Sega Sammy Phoenix, their eight positive week helped them break the +400.0pts barrier. And for the Akasaka Drivens, their fifth positive week in a row was thanks in large part to Taro getting the biggest win of the week.
The Konami Mahjong Fight Club, Beast X and EX Furinkazan dropped this season. The Konami Mahjong Fight Club had Takamiya getting a 4th place in one of the team’s two games this week, with Hisato only getting a 2nd to counteract it. The Beast X leaned mostly 3rd to cause a slow and steady decline. WIth the EX Furinkazan, Katsumata’s 1st place on Tuesday could not cushion the blow of Aki getting back-to-back 4ths during Friday’s double duty.
Finally, we have the Kadokawa Sakura Knights. Hori and Okada were the two players of the week, but neither of them were able to gain points this week. Between the two of them, they had three 4ths. For Okada, her two 4ths brought her all the way down to 34th in the individual standings. With the 0/0/1/3 record and -180.1pts drop, the team drops into the negatives and into 6th place.
And that’s all for this week! We are solidly in November and just a week away from the 1/3 mark of the season. Will the Sega Sammy Phoenix continue to rise up? Can the Beast X get up from the ground? Will we see even more ippatsu wins? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
