The top-performing team this week is the Akasaka Drivens. In every game they played this week, the team gained points. Though Futoshi had a dead hand in his game, he managed to get a 1st place and was followed by Sonoda getting a 2nd. Similarly, Thursday’s game had Asami getting a 1st followed by Sonoda getting another 2nd. Being the best performers on both days, the Akasaka Drivens end the week with a 2/2/0/0 record and a +1408pts gain, enough to move the team into 1st place overall.
The Konami Mahjong Fight Club, Kadokawa Sakura Knights and U-Next Pirates all had positive results as well. The Konami Mahjong FIght Club had both Hisato and Takizawa getting 1sts and the rest of the team avoiding 4th to take the team above +200.0pts. The Kadokawa Sakura Knights had two 1sts as well, including Hori getting his sixth 1st of the season. For the U-Next Pirates, the even record edged slightly positive with Nakabayashi winning a 73,000, his second-best score in his M-League career and the second-best game in the league so far this season.
Team Raiden, Sega Sammy Phoenix, EX Furinkazan and Shibuya Abemas all lost points this week. Hagiwara got a strong 2nd place, but Honda was unable to keep the momentum going and got a 4th in the team’s only other game this week. The Sega Sammy Phoenix registered two 4ths this week, but Daigo continues to go strong with his fifth win of the season and sits in top spot for the MVP award. The EX Furinkazan only had two games this week and placed 3rd in both games. And for the Shibuya Abemas, their -104.9pts performance this week with all four players losing points erases their progress from last week and a bit more.
Finally, we have the Beast X. It was quite the rough week for them, with three of their four games ending up 4th. Daisuke lost his game on Monday by 200 and Thursday featured a double 4th by Sarukawa and Sugawara. Being at the bottom of the standings going into this week, they fall even further and are now at -491.4pts. This week marks their 3rd week as the worst performers.
And that’s all for this week! With this week complete, we are officially a third of the way through the regular season. 9 weeks of games done, 18 more weeks to go. Will it be the Drivens, the Phoenix or some other team topping the standings at the next third? WIll the EX Furinkazan, Shibuya Abemas and Beast X escape the elimination zone? Will the staff get yet another yakuman before the M-Leaguers get one? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
