For the fourth week this season, the Akasaka Drivens are the top performers of the week. They continued to carry the season’s positive momentum through Tuesday, giving Taro his fifth 1st of the season and aided by a 2nd place by Sonoda. On Thursday, Asami did well in the first game and got her third win in a row. And though Futoshi ended up losing points in the second game, it was the best he could do against Rumi’s yakuman win. In total, the team went 2/2/0/0 and gained +128.6pts, finishing the week at 661.5pts.
The U-Next Pirates, Team Raiden, EX Furinkazan and Beast X were all positive this week. The U-Next Pirates didn’t do so well on Tuesday with a double 3rd, but they made it up with a big daily double on Friday, putting them just a 1st away from 2nd place overall. Team Raiden avoided 4th all week and Kurosawa’s win on Tuesday brought the team back into the positives. Though Katsumata got his first 4th place of the season, Rumi’s incredible yakuman and first win of the season made us forget all of that. And for the Beast X, Sugawara’s incredible birthday double duty daily double (and her first wins of the seaosn) overshadowed the double 4th that the team ended up getting on Friday.
The Shibuya Abemas, Kadokawa Sakura Knights and Sega Sammy Phoenix all lost points. The Abemas played only two games this week and both of them were 3rds, unable to fight the birthday momentum. The Kadokawa Sakura Knights also played two games, but got hit hard during Rumi’s yakuman game. And for the Sega Sammy Phoenix, Daigo ended up with his first 4th place and Kayamori got her fifth one to drop the team uncomfortably close to 3rd place overall.
Finally, we have the Konami Mahjong Fight Club. On Tuesday, Takamiya started off the week with a 4th place, dropping her back into the triple-digit negatives. In the second game, Hisato ended up with his first 4th of the season. Date gained a bit with her 2nd place on Friday, but Takizawa was unable to tap into his birthday luck and ended up 3rd. Dropping -105.8pts, they are now in 4th place overall and 183.7pts from the podium.
And that’s all for this week! A double duty daily double on Sugawara birthday, then a yakuman to give Rumi her first 1st. What a way to start December! Overall, the bottom teams are starting to creep up. Will they maintain this upward trend? Will other players have incredible birthday luck? Will we have another yakuman? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
