M-League 2024-25 Week 13: Forward

Standings

The top-performing team this week is the Sega Sammy Phoenix. It was a big week for Genta, who got a 1st place on both Monday and Friday. With those two wins, Genta moves his individual score up to +331.5pts and sits on top of the individual standings, not bad for his first M-League season. And though Takaki ended up getting a 4th place during Friday’s last game, the team finished the week gaining +70.2pts and moving back above +400.0pts.

The U-Next Pirates, Shibuya Abemas and Akasaka Drivens all had gains this week as well. A 1st place by Mizuhara and the rest of the team avoiding 4th place allowed the team to move up to above +400.0pts. The Shibuya Abemas had both Hinata and Shiratori getting 1sts to negate Ooi’s 4th place and lift the team just a bit higher. And for the Akasaka Drivens, the team briefly peeked above +700.0pts before a Taro got his second 4th place of the week, but the team is still positive on the week.

Dropping this week are the EX Furinkazan, Team Raiden, Kadokawa Sakura Knights and Konami Mahjong Fight Club. Two 3rds by the Nikaido sisters dropped the EX Furinkazan a bit further down. Team Raiden had three 2nds and a 4th to be negative on the week, but they hit their midway point in the positives with a +6.3pts total. The Kadokawa Sakura Knights had a rough week with a double 3rd on Monday and Okada getting her sixth 4th place in a row on Thursday, but Shibukawa’s 1st place and Okada’s calendar picture was a bright spot to end the week. For the Konami Mahjong Fight Club, a 4th and a 3rd by the TakiHisa combo lost the team some ground against the 3rd place U-Next Pirates.

Finally, we have the Beast X. The woest for the beast continue. Daisuke fell out of his chair to start the week, followed by Sugawara getting a 4th place. On Thursday, they had a double 3rd day as the team dropped below -700.0pts. At present, they have the biggest absolute value score, and not in a good way.

And that’s all for this week! Just a few more games before we hit the regular season’s halfway point. How high will teams hit at the halfway point? Can the bottom teams recover? Can the top teams extend their leads? Can any of the yakuman close calls convert to get the second yakuman of the season. As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
