The top performer this week is the Kadokawa Sakura Knights. This team had quite a few highlights this week, from Shibukawa’s baiman to Uchikawa’s rinshan to Hori’s baiman. And though Okada ended up 2nd in her game, her really intense battle for 1st was truly impressive. With their 1/2/1/0 record and +83.9pts gain, the team returns to above -100.0pts.
The Sega Sammy Phoenix, Shibuya Abemas, Akasaka Drivens and Team Raiden also had gains this week. Genta was able to get his fourth win a row and Takaki his fourth of the season to move the team closer to the top. The Shibuya Abemas had Shiratori winning twice this week to move them above the EX Furinkazan and into 7th place. The Akasaka Drivens had Asami getting her fourth win in a row to help the Drivens move above +700.0pts. And for Team Raiden a 4th/1st in their two games put them net positive and keeps them above 0.0pts.
The Konami Mahjong Fight Club, EX Furinkazan and U-Next Pirates all dropped this week. Though Date got a 1st place to end off the team’s week, lost points in the three previous games put the team net negative and closer to the negatives. 4ths by Matsugase and Katsumata on Monday pushed the team into 8th place, with Aki’s back-to-back seconds unable to fully recover those points. And in the two games for the U-Next Pirates, mizuhara got a 4th in the girls battle and Yu just snuck into 3rd to maintain his 4th avoidance streak.
Finally, for the second week in a row, the Beast X are the worst performers of the week. It was the two guys playing for the Beast this week, but neither of them were able to get 1st. With Daisuke getting a negative score, the team went 0/1/2/1 to go -98.1pts, pushing the Beast X below -800.0pts.
And that’s all for this week! We have one more week of games before we got on a week-long New Year’s break. How will the teams end off the year? Can Genta and Asami get their fifth win a row? Can Okada and Matsumoto get their first wins? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
