For the first time in over two years, Team Raiden is the top performer of the week. From the very start of the week, Hagiwara impressed the league with a 4th to 1st comeback and finished with a 47,900 win, his first win in 4 months. On Thursday, Honda did the same thing, going from 4th to 1st to win his game. With Setokuma and Kurosawa getting supporting 2nd places, the team ended up gaining +147.5pts, returning to 4th place.
The U-Next Pirates, Akasaka Drivens and Beast X were all positive gainers this week. The U-Next Pirates got two 1sts and avoided 4th in all of their games, pushing them up to 2nd place and increases their gap over the Phoenix to almost 200.0pts. The Akasaka Drivens only played two games, but Sonoda’s huge 75,200 was enough to more than cancel out Asami’s 4th and gets the team to a new all-time record of +1059.7pts. The Beast X was dropping going into the final game, but Daisuke saved the day and won a 72,200 game, bringing the team back above -900.0pts.
Dropping are the Kadokawa Sakura Knights, Shibuya Abemas, Konami Mahjong FIght Club and Sega Sammy Phoenix. The team had an even record, but Hori’s 16,700 3rd place made the team net negative on the week. The Shibuya Abemas neded up with a single 2nd and three 3rds, losing ground on the teams above them. The Konami Mahjong Fight Club had Hisato getting a 1st and 2nd, but 4ths by Date and Takizawa hurt the team and dropped them into 5th place. And for the Sega Sammy Phoenix, back-to-back 4ths by MVP frontrunners Genta and Daigo dropped the team down to 3rd place and below +400.0pts.
Finally, we have the EX Furinkazan. Going into the week in 7th place, they just needed one more positive push to get them into a playoff position. Unfortunately, they ended up losing points in all four games that they played this week. The team’s best result was a 22,900 3rd place. On Friday, Matsugase had a rough 4th place. With a -114.2pts drop, the team goes down into 8th place and 223.2pts away from a playoff spot.
And that’s all for this week! There are three more weeks left in the regular season. The Shibuya Abemas hold a 191.5pts lead over 7th place, but anything can happen in 3 weeks. For the MVP fight, 40.8pts separate 1st and 3rd. Who will take the playoff spots? Who will be the next M-League MVP? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
