Standings
For the second week in a row, the top team this week is Team Raiden. It’s been an incredible March run for the team. In the first week, they had a 1st place in the first game and a 2nd place in the second game. This week was even better. On Monday, Setokuma had a tight 3,4200 1st place and Hagiwara got a solid 36,300 2nd place. On Friday, Kurosawa had a commanding 52,000 1st place to start off the day. Then, Honda had a huge win in the final hand to take 1st place in his vame. WIth the team’s results, they gained +205.6pts, the most points gained by a team since the very first week of the season. Hitting a team score of +300.2pts, they are at their highest in their team’s history. With one more good week, they could even move up to 2nd place in the standings.
The Konami Mahjong Fight Club and Beast X are only other teams to gain points this week. The Konami Mahjong Fight Club gained points in every single one of their games, pushing them back into the positives. The Beast X played only two games this week, but a 1st place by Sarukawa gave the team a positive result.
The Sega Sammy Phoenix, Kadokawa Sakura Knights, EX Furinkazan, Akasaka Drivens and Shibuya Abemas all lost points this week. The Sega Sammy Phoenix had an even 1/1/1/1 week, but their losses were just a tad bit bigger than their gains. Despite finishing with more points than they started with each game, the Kadokawa Sakura Knights ended up getting 3rd place in their two games this week to end up dropping. Despite all the fanfare with the incredibly quick thirteen orphans by Katsumata, the EX Furinkazan’s week was slightly marred by the back-to-back 4ths that he got earlier in the week. The Akasaka Drivens were doing relatively okay until Thursday when Taro got a 4th followed by Futoshi dealing into a yakuman, but the team still remains above +1000.0pts. And for the Shibuya Abemas, they were unable to get a 1st place and they slowly sink closer to the border line.
Finally, we have the U-Next Pirates. This is the U-Next Pirates’ worst week since Week 4 in October. In every single game, they lost points. On Monday, Mizuhara just barely took 3rd place and Yu took a 4th place even after getting a dealer haneman at the start of the game. On Friday, Kobayashi got a 4th place and Nakabayashi ended up rising from 4th to 3rd by a stroke of luck. They lost -155.5pts this week and fall to +418.6pts, putting them dangerously close to the Sega Sammy Phoenix and even Team Raiden.
And that’s all for this week! Only two more weeks left to go in the regular season and the standings are getting more and more exciting. Can Team Raiden keep their incredible run and move up to 3rd or even 2nd? Who will take 6th place? As always, we’ll just we have to wait and see!
