M-League 2024-25 Week 26: Penultimate

Standings

The top team this week the U-Next Pirates. The week did not start out so well with Mizuhara getting 3rd place, but that 3rd place was also a brights spot as she made a final hand comeback to escape 4th. With that momentum, Nakabayashi got a 1st place in the second game, the teams first 1st in a about two weeks. On the second game, Kobayashi’s solid 2nd place and Yu’s 52,600 1st place (the best game of the week) brought the team even higher. With the +121.1pts gain, the team goes up to 539.7pts, holding a 120.6pts lead over 3rd place.

Coming in a close second and third are the Akasaka Drivens and Team Raiden, respectively. The Akasaka Drivens had a double 1st place to exactly cancel out their double 4th last Thursday. This Thursday, a 2nd place by Futoshi gave the team another all-time high of +1132.5pts, but the team fell just slight right after with a 3rd place. After a +119.0pts gain and a +1119.3pts team score to end the week, the Drivens have more than double the score of 2nd place. For Team Raiden, their 2/1/1/0 record and +118.9pts gain, pushed the team up to 3rd place, hitting another team record and lining up for their best finish ever.

Also with positive results are the Shibuya Abemas and Konami Mahjong Fight Club. Both teams had played two games each. The Shibuya Abemas played on Thursday and a double duty by Shiratori yielded his 13th win of the season, tying the M-League record. For the Konami Mahjong Fight Club, the two 2nds by the TakiHisa duo helped keep the team above the very volatile 6th-7th-8th battle.

Coming in with negative results are the Sega Sammy Phoenix, Kadokawa Sakura Knights and EX Furinkazan. The Sega Sammy Phoenix were unable to get a 1st place this week and Daigo slips from the MVP position, moving the team down to 4th. The 7th Kadokawa Sakura Knights are suffering a lot with three 4ths, slipping them further and further from 6th place. Similarly, the 8th place EX Furinkazan had two 2nds and two 4ths, including a -12,400 game by Katsumata, tanking the team even further.

Finally, we have the Beast X. They were already very low and they ended the week even lower. They ended up losing points in every game they played, goign with a double 4th and a double 3rd this week. With their losses, the team returns to below -1000.0pts.

And that’s all for this week! Just one more week left in the regular season! Who will be the six team to advance to the semifinals? Who are the three teams to be eliminated? Who will end up being crowned MVP? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
