April 15, Game 1, E2-0
In E2-0, Daigo is in a 2nd place tie and 1,300 behind 1st place Ooi.
Daigo starts out the hand at 3-shanten with a secured red 5m, a connected dora 3p, a bunch of ryanmens and a single kanchan. In the first row, Daigo fills in one of the ryanmens and advances to 2-shanten with tanyao guaranteed.
At the start of the second row, Daigo fills in another ryanmen getting to iishanten. Over the next few turns, Daigo’s only improvement is drawing a 3s for a 357s shape, wanting either the 4s or the 6s. At the end of the second row, Daigo fills in a ryanmen and stays dama on a 4s kanchan.

Soon after, Honda gets to tenpai and calls riichi on an 8m/north shanpon.

In the third row, Honda draws and discards the 4s and deals into Daigo. Daigo wins the hand with Tanyao/Dora 1/Aka 1 for 5,200, moving into 1st place.

In E3-0, Honda is in 4th place, 7,500 behind 3rd place Kobayashi and 8,800 behind 2nd place Ooi.
With Honda’s first 13 tiles, he is already iishanten with a pair of white dragons, a secured red 5s and two ryanmens. He ends up drawing a green dragon on his first turn, unable to call the double riichi. However, on his second turn, he fills in one of the ryanmens and calls riichi on a 58m ryanmen, guaranteed at least a mangan.
Around the start of the second row, Kobayashi discards the 8m trying to take tenpai and ends up dealing into Honda. With the flip, the white dragon becomes the uradora as well and upgrades the hand to a haneman. Honda wins the hand with Riichi/Dora 2/Aka 1/Ura 2 for 12,000, moving into 2nd.

In S3-0, Honda is in 3rd place, 1,900 behind 2nd place Ooi and 7,600 behind 1st place dealer Daigo.
Honda starts out the hand at 3-shanten with two completed sequences. In the first row, Honda fills in a 2p kanchan and draws a red 5p to get to iishanten. It takes some time, but Honda gets to tenpai near the end of the second row and calls riichi on a 47p ryanmen.
In the middle of the third row, Kobayashi discards the 7p trying to take tenpai and wins the hand. Hitting the uradora, Honda wins the hand with Riichi/Pinfu/Aka 1/Ura 1 for 8,000, moving into 1st place by 400 going into the final hand.

Shiratori Triplets

In E1-1, Shiratori is tied for 2nd place and 3,900 behind 1st place Genta.
Before Shiratori even gets his first draw, Hagiwara calls pon on the east and Shiratori calls pon on the white dragon, getting to 2-shanten. Over the next few turns, Shiratori pairs up both the 2m and the 1p dora, giving the potential for toitoi. After calling pon on the 5s and making a west triplet, Shiratori gets to tenpai on a 2m/1p shanpon, guaranteed a haneman if he wins.

Across from him, Hagiwara is iishanten with two ryanmens and a pair of 1p dora. In the middle of the second row, Hagiwara fills in one of the ryanmens and gets to tenpai on a 25s ryanmen.

However, on Hagiwara’s next turn, he draws and discards the 2m, dealing into Shiratori. Shiratori wins the hand with Toitoi/White Dragon/Dora 2/Aka 1 for 12,000+300.
Ippatsu

In E4-0, Nakabayashi is in 3rd place, 1,700 behind 2nd place Genta and 10,800 behind 1st place dealer Shiratori.
Nakabayashi starts out the hand 2-away from seven pairs, having a pair of 7p and a red 5p as part of a pair. Sequences start of form in the first row, so Nakabayashi aims for a standard hand and breaks an isolated 3s pair. By the end of the first row, Nakabayashi is iishanten with a likely pinfu.
Looking around the table, Shiratori is already tenpai on a yakuless 4s/2m shanpon, while both Genta and Hagiwara are iishanten by turn 7. On turn 9, Hagiwara gets to tenpai and calls riichi on an 8p kanchan.

Immediately after, Nakabayashi gets to tenpai and calls riichi on a 58s ryanmen, guaranteed at least a mangan. With the riichi, Shiratori decides to fold. Though Hagiwara misses on his ippatsu draw, Nakabayashi is able to draw his 8s and wins the hand. Nakabayashi wins with Riichi/Ippatsu/Tsumo/Pinfu/Dora 1/Aka 1 for 3,000/6,000 plus a riichi stick, rising into 1st place.

In S2-0, Nakabayashi is at the top with a 13,100 lead over 2nd place.
Nakabayashi starts out by drawing a red 5p, moving him to 4-shanten and joining the red 5s for value. Nakabayashi is able to draw quite well in the first row, creating a 456s sequence and getting to iishanten by the end of the row.
In the middle of the second row, Nakabayashi fills in a 6m kanchan, getting to tenpai. With a riichi, Nakabayashi waits on a 47p ryanmen with mangan minimum. At the start of the third row, Hagiwara discards the 7p and deals into Nakabayashi. With the uradora flip, Nakabayashi’s 4m triplet suddenly becomes dora and upgrades the hand to a haneman! Nakabayashi wins the hand with Riichi/Tanyao/Aka 2/Ura 3 for 12,000, pushing Nakabayashi above 50,000.
