Standings
The Akasaka Drivens remain at the top of the standings. Their brief drop to 2nd place at the start of the week has really invigorated the team. On both Tuesday and Thursday, the team was net positive and ended up increasing their score and reaching new M-League records for semifinal scores. If they maintain and widen this lead, they will have the advantage going into the finals.
The U-Next Pirates had an interesting week, but they still remain within striking distance of top spot. On Tuesday, they had their worst result ever with a double 4th and dropping -100.9pts. When it seemed like the Akasaka Drivens would run away with the semifinals, the team brought it all back on Friday. With a 50,300 win by Mizuhara and 63,200 win by Yu, the team gained +153.5pts on the day to surpass their losses. The team remains just 29.5pts behind the Akasaka Drivens and will face them in their last four games.
The Sega Sammy Phoenix was the biggest gainer of the past three days and moved closer to the top 2 teams. Though they ended up slightly negative on Tuesday, they brought out their starpower on Thursday. With Genta and Kayamori both getting 1st place, they gained a total +116.2pts over their past four games. With more than 500.0pts between them and the 5th place, they are basically guaranteed a spot in the finals.
With their past four games, the Konami Mahjong Fight Club moves up to a playoff spot. It wasn’t much, but their gains were good enough to be net positive. Though Date had a 1st and a 4th that was slightly negative, the 2nds by Takamiya and Hisato brought the team back into the positives. With a 116.8pts gap between them and the 5th place Team Raiden, they will have to do their best to defend that spot to make the finals.
Team Raiden drops down into the negatives and into 5th place. With two 3rds and two 4ths, they couldn’t get any gains in their past four games. With a -164.4pts drop for the team at a critical time, they are in a very bad position going into the final four games. They must make the most of their direct confrontation with the Konami Mahjong Fight Club on Monday and give it their all on Thursday to take the final spot.
And remaining in 6th overall is the Shibuya Abemas. It was yet another week of dropping, unable to get a 1st place with their 0/1/2/1 record. They are more than likely eliminated, but they are not technically mathematically eliminated. If miracles upon miracles happen, they could theoretically do the impossible. Hopes are near zero, but not zero. Four more games remain for them.
And that all for this week! By the end of the day on Thursday, we will have our final four. How will everything turn out? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
