M-League 2025-26 Preseason: Late June Update

From contracts to tournaments, a lot of things have happened since our last M-League update! Let’s take a look at what’s new in the world of M-League!

Contract Statuses

After the Beast X, EX Furinkazan (who also announced that Aki will be the team’s manager) and Kadokawa Sakura Knights announced that they will be changing their rosters, all the remaining teams announced that they will be keeping their rosters the same.

On June 3, the Sega Sammy Phoenix announced that all of their players will be staying. In addition, Kayamori Sayaka will be taking on the role of both player and team director, replacing Kondo Seiichi from the position.

On June 8, the Konami Mahjong Fight Club announced that they will be renewing the contracts for all their players.

On June 14, the Akasaka Drivens also confirmed their intention to keep all their players.

On June 16, the Shibuya Abemas, U-Next Pirates (though they had previously hinted at this result in a press release on May 22) and Team Raiden confirmed that all of their players will be staying.

The M-League Draft will be taking placing on June 30 starting at 17:00 JST. More in-depth information will be explained in a future article.


EX Furinkazan New Member Audition 2025 Results

From June 15 to June 22, eight players competed for the right to be chosen by the EX Furinkazan at the upcoming draft.

After the first 4 games (2 games per player), Shinohara Saemi and Arai Keibun were eliminated.

Before the semifinals, Kouno Naoya was feeling unwell and had to drop out. As a result, the 6-player, 8-game semifinals were shifted to a 5-player, 5-game semifinals. After that, the top player automatically advanced to the finals while the remaining four played a two-game playoff, with the top two from that advancing to the finals.

By the end of the semifinals, Murakami Jun and Uchikawa Kotaro were eliminated.

The four finalists were

  • Hitotsui Shinya
  • Uotani Yuumi
  • Shimoishi Geki
  • Nagai Kousuke

After winning two games out of the three-game finals, Nagai Kousuke won the tournament!

Because of Nagai’s win, he will be drafted by the EX Furinkazan at the M-League 2025-26 Draft (should he not be drafted by another team first).

Beast X Member Replacement Audition Results

Over the course of five game days, six players competed for a spot on the Beast X roster.

After the 9 qualifying games, Tomozoe Toshiyuki and Sarukawa Masatoshi were eliminated, leaving

  • Shimoishi Geki
  • Asai Yusuke
  • Sugawara Hiroe
  • Arai Keibun

as the four finalists.

In the finals, it was close going into the final game with Shimoishi Geki and Asai Yusuke at the top. With a win, Shimoishi took the game and won the tournament.

Shimoishi will be drafted by the Beast X at the upcoming M-League 2025-26 Draft (should he not be drafted by a different team first).

M-Tournament Update

After 7 days of M-Tournament actions, the first round of the M-Tournament 2025-26 is complete.

Highlights include Nakabayashi winning his second game with 134,000 (+154.0), the highest score ever achieved on the M-League stage (M-League or M-Tournament game). His final total was +227.8pts, which is also the highest score two-game total in an M-Tournament game.

Of the 24 recommended players, only 10 remain in the running. Joining them are the 18 (out of the 32) first-round M-Leaguers that advanced , plus the 4 Sega Sammy Phoenix players who were already seeded in the 2nd round.


New M-League Official Song “NO MAP”

On June 14, M-League announced that UVERworld’s new song “NO MAP” will be the official song for the M-League 2025-26 season.

This is the fourth year in a row that an UVERworld song has been the official M-League song, after “Nanosecond“ in the 2022-23 season, “ENCORE AGAIN“ in the 2023-24 season and “WINGS ever” in the 2024-25 season.
