Standings
The top gainers this week is the Akasaka Drivens. The team played six games this week and got positive results in all four of them. With four 2nds and two 1sts (which was a daily double on Thursday), the fruit of their labour gained them +173.2pts to boost them up from 5th place all the way up to the top of the standings.
Also gaining this week are the Konami Mahjong Fight Club, Team Raiden, EX Furinkazan and Kadokawa Sakura Knights. Despite Date starting off the team’s week with a 4th place, the work by both her and Takizawa over the next three games garnered them three straight 1sts, including Takizawa’s fourth 1st place in a row. Team Raiden’s big day was on Friday, where they got two 50,000+ 1sts to get the team into the triple digits. The EX Furinkazan was briefly at the top of the standings on Tuesday after Aki’s 53,600 win. But, despite the team going down to 2nd by the end of the week, they are still easily within range of the top. And the Kadokawa Sakura Knights did weel to avoid 4th and Shibukawa’s win on Monday made the team the best performers of the day.
Losing points are the Shibuya Abemas, Beast X, Earth Jets and U-Next Pirates. Despite the Shibuya Abemas getting three 2nds (including a 45,400 result by Shiratori), a 4th place by Ooi and the inability to get 1st pushed the team down in points (but interestingly going up to 6th overall). The Beast X was the best performer at their table on Friday, but a total of three 4ths during the week hurt them and pushed the team down two places to 8th. The Earth Jets continue to struggle and got net negative results on all three days they played, pushing them below the -400.0pts mark. And with the U-Next PIrates, the team had quite a drop after a double 4th on Friday, cutting their score down in half and going from the top of the standings to 5th place.
Finally, we have the Sega Sammy Phoenix. The defending champions are continuing to struggle this season, getting three 4ths and two 3rds in their first five games of the week. Their only saving grace was a very tight 29,700 1st place by Daigo to end off the week. They sit in 9th place and still have a ways to go if they want to return to the playoffs and become defending champions.
And that’s all for this week! By the end of next week, October will be finished. What shakeups at the top of the standings lie ahead? What spooky plays await us? Can Takizawa get to 5 wins in a row? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
