Standings
The top-performing team this week is the Beast X. In all four of the games they played, they gained points. After a double 1st on Tuesday, they had a daily double from Shimoishi and Tojo to push the team into the positives. Their results this week move them up from 8th place up to 5th.
Next is the Earth Jets. The team at the bottom of the standings is starting to take off. Shibata played both games on Tuesday and started it off with his first 1st place of his M-League career. On Friday, it was Miura’s turn to finally get his first 1st of his M-League career. Though small, the gains they made were enough to move them into 9th.
Coming up with small gains are the EX Furinkazan, U-Next Pirates, Konami Mahjong Fight Club, Shibuya Abemas and Kadokawa Sakura Knights. With five 2nds in a row, the slow and steady games brought the team up into 1st place in the standings. The U-Next Pirates were able to redeem themselves after a double 4th on Tuesday by getting a double 1st on Friday, saving them from going into teh negatives. The Konami Mahjong Fight Club had a relatively even record that allowed them to move up to 2nd place and in contention for the top. Despite falling to 8th, Shibuya Abemas were the top performers on Monday and the team gets a bit closer to the positives. And the Kadokawa Sakura Knights broke a four-game 3rd streak with a 1st place by Hori on Friday, making the team the top performers on their table.
Akasaka Drivens and Sega Sammy Phoenix lost points this week. Despite a 1st place from Futoshi, the rest of the team lost points, including a 4th place by Sonoda to break his 4th-avoidance record. Because of this drop, the team goes down from 1st to 3rd overall. For the Sega Sammy Phoenix, they couldn’t get a 1st place in their four games and had a 4th/2nd result on both of their game days. Even Takaki’s yakuman couldn’t get him a 1st place. The team’s results push them down to the very bottom of the rankings at 10th place.
Finally, we have Team Raiden. Four out of their six games were 4ths, one by each member of the team. After being in striking range of the top, the team is now in teh negatives and all the way down in 6th place.
And that’s all for this week. October finishes and November begins. Can the Beast X continue to climb? Can Team Raiden regain their electric energy? How many more yakuman will we have this season? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see.
