Video: https://abema.tv/video/episode/444-1_s5_p7524
In E1-0, Uchikawa starts off the hand with not much to speak of, being 5-shanten with a floating red 5s and 9m dora. However, useful tiles start coming fast and furious. By the end of the first row, he is iishanten with two red fives and pairs of south and north. On turn 8, he gets to tenpai and calls riichi on the north/south honour shanpon.

The wait is quite good, but it doesn’t mean it will come easily. Calling chii on Uchikawa’s riichi tile, Matsumoto gets to tenpai on a 6s kanchan.

Right after that, Asami calls riichi on an 8m kanchan.

At the end of the second row, Matsumoto discards the south and deals into Uchikawa. Uchikawa wins the hand with Riichi/Aka 2/Dora 1 for 8,000 plus a riichi stick.

In S1-1, Setokuma is in 4th place, 5,000 behind 3rd place Shimoishi and 6,900 behind 2nd place dealer Shibukawa.
Setokuma starts out the hand with a very strong 2-shanten haned with two secured red fives and strong waits. By turn 2, he gets to iishanten. On turn 4, he gets to tenpai, but chooses not to call riichi. With a 4556s shape and two triplets, he can pare down one of them if he draws anything around that shape. His hand is so good that 9 different tiles will give him a good wait tenpai, one of those waits giving him a 5-sided wait. He reduces it to just 6 different tiles when he draws the 5p, gambling for a potential 456 sanshoku.
Things look good for Setokuma, but he is faced with a huge challenge as Shimoishi calls riichi on a 7s penchan at the end of the first row.

In the middle of the second row, Setokuma draws the red 5p to create a pair. With this hand, he breaks up the rest of the norths to move towards tanyao. With a fine ballet, Setokuma dances his way around the dangerous situation. In the middle of the third row, Setokuma gets to tenpai and calls riichi on a 14p ryanmen. Two turns later, Setokuma draws the 1p and wins the hand. Setokuma wins with Riichi/Tsumo/Aka 3 for 2,000+100/4,000+100, moving into 2nd place.
