M-League 2025-26 Week 9: Surpass and Soar

Standings

The top gainer this week is the EX Furinkazan. The team is proving that their high score is a team effort. Even without current MVP Nagai playing, the team continues to make big gains. Uchikawa made the biggest gains this week, getting two 1sts and moving him up to 6th place overall. With a 3/2/1/0 record and a +193.2pts gain, the team moves up to +631.6pts.

The Konami Mahjong Fight Club, Sega Sammy Phoenix, Earth Jets and Shibuya Abemas also had gains. Two 1sts and two 2nds by the Konami Mahjong Fight Club meant that the team gained points in every game they played this week, allowing them to strengthen their position in 2nd place, holding a 388.2pts lead over 3rd. The Sega Sammy Phoenix at the bottom of standings are starting to close the gap on 9th place after a decent week, getting a daily doubleon Thursday. The Eart Jets also made gains this week to put them just 1.8pts behind 8th place. And the Shibuya Abemas had a small gain, but it was enough to move them up from 5th to 3rd.

Team Raiden, Kadokawa Sakura Knights, Akasaka Drivens and U-Next Pirates had losses this week. Having had three 3ds and a 4th in their first four games, Team Raiden managed to save a bit by getting a 2nd and 1st on Friday, enough to actually move them up from 8th to 6th. A 0/2/3/1 record by the Kadokawa Sakura Knights lowers their score, but the difficult week for the rest of the league meant that they move just 0.2pts from 6th place. The Akasaka Drivens got 4th place in half of their games and moves them into the negatives for the first time since the second week. And the U-Next Pirates have their third triple-digit drop in four weeks to move them all the way down to 8th place.

Finally, we have the Beast X. After two weeks of being the top gainers with triple-digit gains, the team becomes the biggest dropper. Three out of their four games, they got 4th. In their other game, they got a 3rd. Their high is now lost and the team drops to just 30.9pts. If the Beast X continue on this route, they will return to the negatives, something that they don’t want to see again.

And that’s all for this week! We are about the halfway point in the regular season, and there is clearly some separation at the top of the standings, with the top two teams having quite the lead over the rest of the pack. At the same time, the teams near the bottom are bunched up and that 6th place spot (the last playoff spot) is within reach for all of them. Even if there are 4.5 months left, there is no time like the present to fight! Will the lead at the top widen? Can the bottom teams catch up? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
