Standings
After many weeks of dropping, the U-Next Pirates are finally the best team of the week. They played six games and won half of them. Two of the other games were positive 2nds. With their efforts and some big hits off their opponents, they actually were able to briefly move into 9th place. Now they have to continue this momentum if they want to make the playoffs.
The Konami Mahjong Fight Club, Beast X, Earth Jets and Sega Sammy Phoenix all had a positive week as well. With three 1sts during the week, the Konami Mahjong FIght Club’s highlight was Hisato’s 74,400 win, the biggest win of the week. The Beast X had a big double duty on Tuesday, then a double 2nd on Thursday, keeping them in the hunt for the top spots. The Earth Jets only got 2nds and 3rds, but the 2nds were big enough to give them a small gain. And the Sega Sammy Phoenix had three 3rds, but a big 1st place by Daigo was enough to keep them up.
The EX Furinkazan, Akasaka Drivens, Shibuya Abemas and Team Raiden dropped this week. Like the Earth Jets, the EX Furinkazan got only 2nds and 3rds, but they had three 3rds and a 2nd place to push them down. The Akasaka Drivens couldn’t get a 1st place, but fate allowed them to move up from 7th to 6th. The Shibuya Abemas had Shiratori getting a -15,400 4th place, the biggest 4th of the week. And Team Raiden had a double 4th on Thursday and added one more 4th on Friday to move them into the negatives.
Finally, we have the Kadokawa Sakura Knights. Even though they did get a 1st place and was the best performer on their table, it was after they had five losing games. With their losses, they dropped from 8th place to 10th place at one point. Their 300.0pts lead over the U-Next Pirates disappeared. They have six weeks to move into a playoff position.
And that’s all for this week! There’s only one more week of simultaneous games, then five more weeks of games. Can the U-Next Pirates keep the big momentum going in the last six weeks? Can the Konami Mahjong FIght Club catch up to the EX Furinkazan? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
