In S1-0, Tojo is the dealer in 1st place, but she is only 10,800 ahead of 4th place.

Tojo starts out the hand at 3-shanten with a bunch of tanyao shapes. In the first four turns, she advances to iishanten, but a 123m sequence removes her chance at tanyao. At the start of the second row, she improves to a perfect iishanten. A few turns later, she draws a fourth 8m dora. The kandora flip gives her a dora, the rinshan gives her a red 5p, and she is able to call riichi and waits on a 47m ryanmen. Two turns later, Tojo draws the 4m and wins the hand. With an uradora hit as well, Tojo wins with Riichi/Tsumo/Dora 1/Aka 2/Ura 1 for 6,000 all.

Shiratori

March 3, Game 1

In S2-0, Shiratori is the dealer in 2nd place, 22,000 behind 1st place Tojo.

Shiratori starts out the hand at 3-shanten, but lacking in value. Trying to keep his options open, Shiratori discards his edge tiles and terminals trying to, at the very least, add tanyao. At the start of the second row, he gets that tanyao tenpai and calls riichi on a 6m kanchan. Only one 6m remains in the wall.

In the middle of the second row, Kurosawa gets to tenpai on a 6s tanki, but folds when the danger is too high. On Shiratori’s second-last draw, he gets that final 6m and wins the hand. With an uradora, Shiratori wins with Riichi/Tsumo/Tanyao/Ura 1 for 4,000 all, putting him within 6,000 of 1st place.

In S4-0, Shiratori is now within 2,800 behind 1st place Tojo. To finish in 1st place, Shiratori needs a 1/50 or 2/50 direct hit, a 2/40 or 3/20 tsumo, or a 2/50 or 3/25 ron.

Shiratori incredibly starts out iishanten with his first draw and has a secured red 5m for value. By turn 2, he is just a 6s away from adding pinfu. On turn 5, Shiratori gives himself a chance at iishanten, needing a 5m to get it.

Two turns into the first row, Shiratori gets the 6s and calls riichi on a 58m ryanmen. If he wins this hand, he wins the game.

Of course, Tojo wants to prevent him and take the win for herself. In the middle of the second row, she calls pon on the 3p and gets to tenpai on a 5p kanchan.

At the start of the third row, Tojo discards the 8m and deals into Shiratori. Getting two uradora for extra value, Shiratori wins the hand with Riichi/Pinfu/Aka 1/Ura 2 for 8,000, taking the game.

March 3, Game 2, E2-1
Video: https://abema.tv/video/episode/444-1_s5_p11049

In E2-1, Nakada is the dealer in a three-way tie for 2nd place, 4,000 behind 1st place Honda.

Nakada’s starting hand is a bit of a pain, being 5-shanten. Though, she does have two ryanmens to soften that pain. In the first row, she completes on of those ryanmens and makes another, getting to 2-shanten by the end of the first row.

Before she is able to get to iishanten, Shibukawa gets to tenpai and calls riichi on a wide 467s wait.

During the ippatsu round, Nakada gets to iishanten. Though she has no value, she pushes. A turn later, she gets to tenpai and calls riichi on a 7p penchan, guaranteed a 789 sanshoku. Two turns later, she draws the 7p and wins the hand. Nakada wins with Riichi/Tsumo/Sanshoku/Ura 1 for 4,000+100 all.

Ooi

March 3, Game 2, S3-0
Video: https://abema.tv/video/episode/444-1_s5_p9048

In S3-0, Ooi is in 3rd place, 5,400 behind 2nd place dealer Honda and 16,500 behind 1st place Nakada.

Ooi starts out the hand at 2-shanten with a ryanmen in hand, but lacks value. On turn 5, Ooi gets to iishanten with a large chance at a good wait.

Within the go-around, though, Honda the dealer gets to tenpai first and calls riichi on a 134s wait.

On Ooi’s turn, he gets to tenpai as well, calling riichi on a 47m/69p double entotsu wait. Nakada gets to tenpai for a short time, but folds when she draws the dangeerous 4m. Though it seems like she avoids the danger, she ends up discarding the 6p and deals into Ooi. With the flip, Ooi gets a surprise ura 3 upgrade. Ooi wins with Riichi/Ura 3 for 8000 plus a riichi stick, moving into 1st place.
