Standings
The Sega Sammy Phoenix had the biggest gain over the past four games with an +86.2pts gain. They managed to gain points with every single game they played. It started off with Daigo getting a 1st place as their first game, with the rest of the team getting 2nds. With their efforts, they are now in 4th place in the standings, temporarily holding a spot in the finals.
The Beast X had quite a similar gain, moving up by +84.8pts. Though it wasn’t the best start with a -21.4pts 4th place by Tojo, Daisuke came and saved the day with a 55,400 win. With a 3rd and 1st on their second day of games as well, they had enough gains to move them from 3rd to 1st place overall.
Rounding out the gainers is the Akasaka Drivens. Despite some mediocre games, their real saving grace was Futoshi’s big 70,300 win on Thursday, the biggest win so far these semifinals. And though they fall into 5th place overall, they still remain competitive for a playoff spot.
Team Raiden falls into a deeper hole with their -29.8pts loss. The team was actually the first winners of the first game of the semifinals, but a 4th place by Hagiwara cancelled most of it. With 3rds on Thursday, the drop puts them at 272.5pts away from 5th place. They will need to do a lot of work in the rest of the semifinals to take a playoff spot.
The EX Furinkazan lose their top position with a drop of -72.2pts. It was quite a painful start of the team with Katsumata getting a 4th place and Uchikawa a 3rd on Monday. With a 4th by Nagai the next day, it things looked hopeless. Luckily, Aki came through with a +60.2pts 1st place, minimizing their loss. Still, they are now in 2nd place and 153.2pts from the leader.
Finally, we have the Konami Mahjong Fight Club. They are the only team that hasn’t gotten a 1st place. With a 0/2/1/1 record, they dropped -81.6pts and into 3rd place.
And with that, we are already a fifth of the way through the semifinals! By the end of the month, we will have our four finalists. Who will they be? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
