M-League 2024-25 Week 26: Penultimate

This week, the 26th week of the M-League 2024-25 regular season, is the second-last week of the regular season. The approach is happening, the runway is in view, the landing is crucial. How the teams handle these high-pressure situations will determine their fate, as well as give us a glimpse of what might be in store during the playoffs.

This week, we had an a yakuman tenpai, a final hand 3rd to 1st comeback, an unfortunate dead hand and a player escaping 4th place by the slimmest of margins.

M-League 2024-25 Week 25: Best

The word “best” has a few meanings in English. As an adjective, it is something of the highest quality. As a verb, it means to beat an opponent in a contest. In mahjong, both definitions apply.

In the 25th week of the M-League 2024-25 regular season, we had players besting their rivals and players being at their best. We saw one of the best hands a player can win, players taking the best opportunity to win and a team getting their best result in team history!

M-League 2024-25 Week 24: MVP Battle

The top individual prize in M-League is the MVP award. The MVP award is the title given to the player who has the highest individual score at the end of the regular season. It is a prestigious title, with the winner receiving a medal that looks like the M-League championship plate and a cash prize of 1,000,000 yen.

In the 24th week of the M-League 2024-25 season, the MVP battle just got closer. The top players are starting to lose steam while their rivals are getting big 1sts. WIth this, the leads are beginning to shrink and it’s anyone guess who will finish on top.

M-League 2024-25 Week 22: Big Wins

In mahjong, there are always great plays that capture our attention, from tight races to decisive deal-ins. However, nothing will ever beat the classic: the big win. When a player keeps winning and winning, they rack up their points higher and higher, pushing the limits with limit hands.

In the 22nd week of the M-League, we had not one, but two games with big wins. We also had some nice last-hand comebacks, some players getting their first wins in many months, and an rare yaku that has only been seen twice before in M-League history!

M-League 2024-25 Week 21: Rebound

Getting hit at the start of a game is rough. Whether it be a small hand or a mangan, you spend the rest of the game playing catch-up. However, even when at the bottom, the best players can fight and make their way to the top.

In the 21st week of the M-League 2024-25 regular season, we had multiple players defying the odds, getting hit with a mangan and still finishing in 1st place, sometimes with a commanding lead. For others, they escaped a deep hole to eke out a small gain. And in one incredible moment, smart messaging allowed two players to get big influential gains, all with just a 2,000 hand.

M-League 2024-25 Week 20: February Fighting

For some, February is the month for flirting. For M-Leaguers, February is the month for fighting. It’s the second-last month of the regular season and playoff spots are on the line. Individuals are trying to reach new records and snag individual awards. Starting this season, these individual awards come with prize money. Every point matters.

In the 20th week of the M-League 2024-25 season, these February fights were fierce. In three of these games, a big hand in South 4 decided who would win the match. In two games, someone won a baiman.
