Stick Collection

May 5, Game 1, S1-4

Since S1-0, every hand has gone to a draw. Now, in S1-4, there are four riichi sticks and four honba, meaning the next winner will get an extra 5,200 in bonus sticks. In 3rd place is Kurosawa, 2,200 behind 2nd place dealer Takamiya and 7,200 behind 1st place Nagai.

Kurosawa starts off at 3-shanten with a pair of white dragons. Within the first row, Kurosawa makes a 567s sequence and draws a third white dragon, getting her to iishanten.

To her left, Nagai has already been rushing the hand, calling pon on both the yakuhai west and green dragon. Towards the middle of the second row, Nagai gets to tenpai on a 6s/4p shanpon. A turn later, he improves to a 25p ryanmen.

Bythe end of the second row, the rest of them are iishanten. The next to tenpai is Takamiya, who calls riichi on a 369s three-sided wait. Only a single 3s remains in the wall.

Within the go-around, Kurosawa gets that last 3s to get herself to tenpai and waits dama on a 36p ryanmen. Only a single 3p is in the wall.On Takamiya’s turn, she draws and discards that 3p and deals into Kurosawa. Kurosawa wins the hand with White Dragon/Aka 1 for 3,200+1,200 plus five riichi stick, pushing her into 1st place.

Nice Nakada

In S2-0, Nakada is the dealer in 4th place, 3,400 behind 3rd place Takamiya, 13,800 behind 2nd place Nagai and 16,000 behind 1st place Kurosawa.

Nakada starts off at 3-shanten for a standard hand (2-shanten for seven pairs) with a pair of 5s dora, a red 5m and a path to tanyao. On turn 3, she adds a pair of 8p to her hand and gets rid of her last terminal. By the end of the first row, her flexible hand is also 2-shanten for a standard hand.

At the start of the second row, Nakada calls pon on the 8p to get her hand going. Then, Takamiya challenges the table with a 25m ryanmen riichi.

Being iishanten and now with two red fives in her hand, Nakada almost has to push. Towards the end of the second row, she completes a 456p sequence and gets to tenpai on a 47m ryanmen. Two turns later, she draws the 7m and wins the hand. Nakada wins with Tanyao/Dora 2/Aka 2 for 4,000 all plus a riichi stick, moving from 4th to 1st.

Kurosawa

May 5, Game 1, S4-4
Video: https://abema.tv/video/episode/444-1_s5_p10067

In S4-4, Kurosawa is the last dealer and is just 1,600 behind 1st place Nakada. With a riichi stick and a honba in the pot, any hand is enough to move into 1st place.

Starting at 2-shanten with a pair of white dragons a a secured red 5m, things are looking good for Kurosawa. When the white dragon comes out on turn 2 though, Kurosawa passes on it in true Kurosawa fashion. Instead of being the yakuhai triplet, she makes the white dragons the pair and gets to a good iishanten by the end of the first row. Across from her, Nakada wants to keep her 1st place standing. Calling pon on the south at the start of the second row, she gets to iishanten. Two turns later, she gets to tenpai on a 47p ryanmen.

A few turns later, Nagai calls riichi on a 25p ryanmen.

Two turns after that, Kurosawa chases with a wide 369m three-sided wait. On Nagai’s next turn, he discards the 9m and deals into Kurosawa. Kurosawa wins the hand with Riichi/Ippatsu/Aka 1 for 7,700+1,200 plus two riichi sticks, easily moving into 1st place.

Final Scores

Standings

A well-needed 1st place for Team Raiden helps them move into 3rd place, moving the Beast X (Who had been quite close to the top at the start of the finals) into 4th. With the EX Furinkazan getting 4th and the Konami Mahjong Fight Club getting a 3rd, not only does it make 1st place closer for Konami, but for the entire group.
