In E2-0, Daisuke is the dealer in 3rd place, 1,000 behind 2nd place Katsumata and 6,300 behind 1st place Setokuma.

Daisuke starts out the hand at 3-shanten with multiple blocks near the ends. On turn 4, he discards a 4s from a 1234s shape, solidifying his pursuit for either chanta or junchan. At the start of the second row he completes a 789p sequence (securing the 9p dora) to be iishanten.

Mean while, Genta gets to tenpai on a 6p/8m wait, but lacks a yaku. He later switches to a 69m ryanmen, but both has no yaku and is furiten.

With a 789m chii, Daisuke gets to tenpai on an 8m kanchan. Setokuma joins in the tenpai crew near the hand trying to gain points at a draw but, like Genta, is both furiten and has no yaku.

It seemed like the hand was going to a draw but, on the very last turn, Genta discards the 8m and deals into Daisuke. Daisuke wins the hand with Junchan/Houtei/Dora 1 for 12,000.

Setokuma

April 13, Game 1, E3-0
Video: https://abema.tv/video/episode/444-1_s5_p10059

In E3-0, Setokuma is the dealer in 2nd place, 5,200 behind 1st place Daisuke.

Setokuma starts off at 2-shanten with a pair of green dragons and a secured dora 7p. Though Setokuma is close, Daisuke is already iishanten and has a chance for double riichi. Though he doesn’t get it, he gets to tenpai on turn 3 and calls riichi on a 2m/1p shanpon.

Drawing a red 5m on the ippatsu turn with only one floating 8m as a safe tile, Setokuma is inclined to push a little. After discarding the safe tiles and replacing his green dragon pair with a 2m pair, Setokuma is at a ryanmen-ryanmen iishanten with pinfu guaranteed. Two turns into the second row, he completes a 345s sequence and gets to tenpai on a 36m ryanmen. He stays dama since he already has mangan and has chance at a 345 sanshoku upgrade. On his very next turn, he gets the 3m and wins the hand. Setokuma wins with Tsumo/Pinfu/Tanyao/Dora 1/Aka 1 for 4,000 all.

Switch

April 13, Game 1, S2-1

In S2-1, Daisuke is the dealer in 2nd place, 11,800 behind 1st place Setokuma. A riichi stick and a honba are in the pot.

Daisuke starts out behind at 4-shanten for seven pair, 5-shanten for a standard hand. But, he has good value with a red dragon pair and a pair of 6m dora. Before of the end of the first row, he calls pon on the red dragon, securing his path for a standard hand.

To his right, Setokuma is the first to tenpai, calling pon on the green dragon and waits on a 47m ryanmen.

On Genta’s turn, he gets to tenpai and calls riichi on a 5p kanchan.

Back to Daisuke, he has already called twice and gets to iishanten on his next draw. In the middle of the row, he gets to tenpai and waits on an 8m kanchan. On his next turn, he gets the 8m and wins the hand. Daisuke wins with Red Dragon/Dora 2 for 2,600+100 all plus two riichi sticks. With that additional riichi stick, Daisuke moves into 1st place.

In S2-3, Hagiwara is in 2nd place, 7,100 behind 1st place dealer Kayamori. A riichi stick sits in the pot.

From the very start, he is already iishanten with a chance at a double riichi. He also has a lot of value, holding all three of the red doras. Frustratingly, he doesn’t get the double riichi, nor is he able to get to tenpai in the first row. It takes until the middle of the second row to get to tenpai. With this late tenpai, though, he is able to create a wide tenpai, waiting dama on a 134p wait. If he wins on the 4p or a tsumo on either of the other two waits, he will have a haneman.

Within the go-around, Nakada calls riichi on a 58p ryanmen.

Because of the additional riichi, Hagiwara chooses to chase with his wide wait. During both of their ippatsu turns, Uchikawa makes the third riichi, waiting on a 25p ryanmen.

Towards the end of the second row, Nakada discards the 4p and deals into Hagiwara. Hagiwara wins the hand with Riichi/Pinfu/Tanyao/Dora 1/Aka 3/Ura 1 for a huge 16,000+900 baiman plus three riichi sticks, pushing him from 27,200 to 47,100.
