Without a doubt, the best performer these past six games is Team Raiden. A 2nd place followed by three 1sts in a row, including a 54,100 by Hagiwara and a 66,200 by Kurosawa. With their +240.3pts gain in their past four games, they have really risen. From starting out as the only team in the negatives, they are now in a playoff spot.
Though they only got +25.8pts in their past four games, the EX Furinkazan is the second-best performer. On Friday, they were the top performers of the day with a 2nd place by Aki and Katsumata got his first 1st place since October 6. With their gains and the losses by the Beast X, they cut their lead down to 61.7pts, putting them a bit closer to their semifinals starting position of 1st place.
With a small gain of +7.6pts is the Konami Mahjong Fight Club. They had an even 1/1/1/1 record, but it was the Demon King Hisato who kept them positive. On Friday, he got a 1st place. On Tuesday, he got a 2nd place, but it was quite big with a 52,900 score. Their efforts kept the team in the top 3 with a decent cushion from the elimination line.
The Beast X lost -65.7pts over their four games. It started out with Daisuke getting a 1st place, but a 4th place by Nakada and a -22,800 4th by Shimoishi (the lowest so far these semifinals) dragged the team down. Though they are down, they still keep their 1st place position.
The Sega Sammy Phoenix went down by -70.7pts. The team was just not able to get a 1st place. With a 0/2/1/1 record, the big loss was a -8,700 by Genta. Their drop was enough to move them into 5th place, just outside of a playoff spot.
Finally, we have the Akasaka Drivens. They lost points in all four of their games. On Friday, they ended that week with a double 4th place. With a double 3rd place on Tuesday, the team drops out of a playoff spot and into the negatives.
And with that, the semifinals are 40% finished! Can Team Raiden keep their playoff spot? Can the Akasaka Drivens regain their spot? As always, we’ll just have to wait and see!
